What a pain in the ass, every 2-3 months Bethesda released a tiny update for the CK and brakes SKSE along with numerous mods until the authors update.

Back up the newly updated SkyrimSE.exe

2 In the steam console copy/paste: download_depot 489830 489833 4140371450004190946

3 Steam will download SkyrimSE.exe in ~/steamapps/content/app_489830/depot_489833

4 Copy/past this SkyrimSE.exe in your skyrim se folder, replacing the updated.

Hello, how do u find out what the download_depot code is for the previous version? sorry if this is a dumb and or complicated question but I just wanted to know so I could find it on my own in the future. Also thanks so much for this, I thought I wouldnt've been able to play today

What happens now? Just got my first gaming pc and now I can't play! Do they give an update on what you need to do? Anybody know how long this normaly takes to get fixed?

Just keep checking back to http://skse.silverlock.org/ Until SKSE64 gets updated to a new version. Currently it's 2.0.10 (Runtime 1.5.53) (which, thanks to Bethesda, is now outdated). Ian and Co. have lives outside of script extenders, just be patient. Between Fallout & E.S. I've seen an update take anywhere between 3 hours to 3 days (usually 6-12 hours or so).

Or you can revert to an older .exe as described above.

Thanks. Do I need to delete the current version and install the new one when it comes out? Total noob here.

What would really be nice is Bethesda focusing on FIXING THEIR BROKEN GAMES instead of shoving all these CC "updates" down our throats that end up breaking SKSE64. This is not an anti-CC rant either. However, Bethesda has yet to fix the GLARING specular mapping issue that causes the specular maps to only work whenever the compass is pointing South. Seriously, this has been an issue SINCE LAUNCH.

But that doesn't grab money. This whole forced update -> break mods affair has already put me off for ES6, because it's apparent how they plan to handle that, too. Sure, you can mod our half-complete, half-broken game. Oops, we broke your mod. Sorry, not sorry. Oh look, we broke it again...

No, leave your current SKSE in place for right now. Go to this thread

and there's a fix posted, to get steam to download the previous exe for you. MOVE (not delete) your current/recently-updated .exes to a safe folder, replace them with the previous versions you'll get from steam. Then your skse will launch Skyrim for you, even with the game updated but SKSE not updated. Once SKSE and any dependent mods are up to date, then you can move the new ones back into place and you're ready to rock and roll. Don't forget to check your masters, if you usually clean them.
