I CANT INSTALL ANY MORE MODS!!!

I accidentally once put the mod esp on before i put the meshes textures etc on and ever since then when i put a mod on the game i go into oblivion load it up and play it..but the mod item isn't actually in the game..it just doesn't appear..can someone please tell me why..

 

Ok..i manually install 7 zip mods..i have the meshes folder, textures folder the mod esp and whatever else is in the mod,

normally i install the meshes, textures and whatever else first and then the esp..i did that and it all worked fine, but then the other day i got lazy and installed the esp first then the meshes and textures

i did what i normally did, activated the esp in the data files but when i actually go to get the items in game they're not actually there..ive uninstalled it reinstalled it..etc, it jsut wont work.. i know its eriously stuffed up because i have had the mods working before..

Remove all your mods (make shure you have an backup)

reinstall oblivion, instal all ur mods and come back here.

Your description of your problem is not very clear. Could you rephrase it?

i did exactly as you said,

but once i installed the mods again, they still didn't appear in game?.

The order that you install meshes, textures and esp shouldn't matter. If the esp is in the data folder, then it should appear in the file list to be checked to use in the game. If it does appear in the list, And if you are using Vista, you may be a victim of Microsoft's overzealous security settings.

Using VISTA only: If you have downloaded and installed, and the mod is appearing in your Data Files List, but not in your game. Then you should reinstall Oblivion into a different directory instead of the default.

 

Installing mods on a Windows Vista system is bit trickier than it is on Windows XP due to Vista's increased security.

 

For best results, it is recommended to install Oblivion to a location other than the default C:\Program Files\ folder. Another location such as C:\Oblivion\ or D:\games\Oblivion\ will work better. This will avoid the file permission problems many users have experienced due to the increased security restrictions Vista places on the Program Files folder.

Or, disable the UAC security feature.

Vista users may have to disable a security function known as UAC. If you have downloaded and installed, and the mod is appearing in your Data Files List, but not in your game check to see if UAC is turned on. If so. The first one is preferred because it does not disable any security features. However, It does require a full uninstall and new install.

OMG you are manualing installing mods WOW that is just asking for trouble.

 

I'd suggest reinstalling your game from scratch, downloading & installing Oblivion Mod Manager and Wyre Bash to manage your mods. I would also suggest installing EVERY mod with OBMM as an OMOD.

 

Please see the installation guide I have attached, the guide is designed for a FCOM setup and is very unfinished but I think it will help you get started with a healthy install of TES4. I have posed the unfinished guide here forums, HERE to make it easier to read.

sometimes you need to manual install mods Thomasv333 some mods require you do to so its a bit of bad luck but i prefer it

Hmmm... I think nobody mentioned that some mods require a new game to be started so the mod functions properly.

 

Plus... some mods don't appear until you are on a high level.

Argh i turned off uac,

and installed oblivion to a differant directory

but they still wont work!..the only ones that work are zip files

but they always worked

It's only asking for trouble if you don't know what you're doing. I manually install all the mods I use.
