MarkusTay
Nope - I explained my entire process over in the F4SE thread. You need to be an admin, but when you log onto your won computer as admin with windows 10 you still don't get full Admin functionality like you used to, so I had to use a Command Line prompt in order to reset MY admin as the actual Admin (microsoft set it so that they are the only true admin). Then from there I was able to give my own user-profile 'Ownership' of my folders (I kid you not), and THEN from there I logged back on as myself and changed my permissions. It didn't so a thing. And lastly I found out that Microsoft - as of the last update to Windows 10 - made it so the folders always say 'read only', even if they aren't, because they felt it was 'safer' that way. bloody f___ing hell. They may have been correct all along. I know exactly what it is - F4SE just isn't seeing my mods. And there is no reason i can figure out for that. They're right there in the same folder, just as they always were. If i start using the F4SE exe directly, I get no mods except those that came from Bethesda (including non-CC content), even though they are also in the same damn folder! if I start F4SE through the launcher inside of MM2, the mods will load, and the game will run perfectly (and look great), but the save-data from any mod will not be there... EVEN those ones that F4SE was able to load on its own (but that data DOES get saved - just the stuff from the Beth mods - when i only use F4SE and don't go through MM2). You know what... there is one more thing I can try. I thought of it earlier and then forgot to try it. There is one other place that needs permissions I may have missed - the actual save folder (uh-DOH!) BBL...
Fireapple
I use NMM and I am having the exact same problem after latest update. Everything was perfectly stable and boom...Bethesda broke it.Have updated f4se and all dependents, verified files (18 failed to validate...redownloaded), deleted all saves for fresh start. Was able to start game, create character, save as always. Saves still wont load! Going to try with no f4se mods next [which is awful]...if that doesn't do it I'll try with no mods at all. MarkusTay
Okay, I posted this in another thread, and linked to it in yet another thread, but I will try to explain as succinctly as possible (something very hard for me LOL). what I did and found and was able to fix my problem. First off, F4SE makes logs, which it keeps in the My Games folder, where all the ini's also like to hide. After reading through them, I saw that F4SE couldn't find my Place.ini file, and that's because I didn't have one (after I did a search on my PC for it). THAT file is part of Place Everywhere, so if you have it - and its in the right spot - than I suggest you look for some other file F4SE is having trouble finding in those logs. They really did save my a$$, IF that is your exact file/problem, then you need to take the 'Plugins' folder out of the Place Everywhere mod (kept wherever NMM is storing your mods), and C&P it over the Plugins folder in the F4SE directory (there were two other files in there I didn't have, and even though one was only a .txt file, I figured I should have them all in the same place). The directory should be in your Steam folder under Fallout - Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Data\F4SE\Plugins. That will put those three files where they belong. HOWEVER, the file is still named incorrectly - the author of the PE mod suggests simply renaming the place_example.ini to place.ini. For whatever reason, when F4SE updated, stuff other mods did to tweak F4SE got lost, and you'll need to look through those logs to find your specific problem. There may be other mods that use F4SE that I have missed (since that plugins folder was completely empty where i found it). Hope that helps.
