[REQZ} 1st Person Weapon Anims

It's pretty self explanatory. With a mace and a sword drawn I can't see a thing. I'd like to see the left hand moved along the bottom of the screen and the right hand moved to the top. PREFERABLY you would just see the tips of the weapons bobbing in the bottom left and upper right corners of the screen. Compare the 3rd person weapons drawn idle to the 1st person. It's stupid. I'd actually be okay with not seeing them at all except when you swing with a little icon somewhere on the screen indicating you have weapons drawn and which hands. The magic anims seem okay and make more sense than the weapons ones. Half the reason I hunt mostly with a bow is because it doesn't fill the screen.

I looked through all 8 pages of anims and everything was for 3rd person. If you know of an existing mod that does anything close to what I'm looking for, please let me know.

Since I'm making big requests I might as well throw this one on. When your character makes that spinning kill move I'd love to see the 1st person camera spin 360 degrees. Just a thought. Though you might want to tackle that one separately. I don't know. I've never worked with animations. If I did, this mod would be the reason.

There is a mod that changes all 1st person animations to the 3rd person ones, but it's not completed and I'm not sure if it's still being worked on. I think it was called something like "real first person".

Thanks, I found it. I can appreciate the monumental effort they are putting forth but it's way more than what I;m looking for.. I hope someone takes a shot at some SIMPLE changes though I'll be keeping an eye on that other one.

Well that project appears to be stalled though they have done some impressive work so far though still not ready for mass consumption.

I HAVE A TECHNICAL QUESTION:

Can anyone give me an idea on where to start. ALL I WANT TO DO is take the 2 weapons that appear on screen in 1st person view and spread them apart. I'd like to get them far enough apart so they are at least 70% off screen. I've done some modding and know my way around the CK, GECK, etc. I haven't done any work with animations, or does this even qualify as an animation. Is it more closely related to UI? I have no idea where to start, but I'm really thinking about tackling this "seemingly" very basic element. ANY input you have would be appreciated.

I guess you would need to:

1. Extract the 1st person skeleton.nif, and skeletonfirst.hkx from Skyrim

2. Extract the original 1st Person animations and convert them to .KF using hkxcmd.

3. Import the skeleton.nif + the animation you want to change, such as 1hm_idle, 1hm_walk etc etc, into 3DS Max.

4. Move the arms to a position you prefer then export the animation using Havok content tools.

XP32 wrote a good guide on 3DS animation editing and in particular the Havok export process including annotations (footstep sounds etc). Its on the nexus to download somewhere. EDIT - Its found here (you will want the 'Pro' guide):

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/15238

Providing you do not alter the skeleton.nif or need to lower or raise the 1st person camera this should do what you need.

Saying that, if you are editing animations you may want to consider helping us on the 'Real First Person View' mod. The third person animations we are using already have better weapon positioning. We are now editing animations on mass to place the camera in the correct positions ready for our next release. Things are going well, there are just a lot of animations to get through so its a slow task!

I'd be glad to help if I thought I was in any way qualified. The most I've done graphically is blend several static objects into one larger static object and change a few containers / activators. And I have absolutely no experience working with animations. When I have nothing better to do perhaps I'll learn some new skills and take a shot at it. I'll be coming back to your description above when I want to get started. Thanks. It doesn't sound like too much but it will probably take me some time to get the basics down.
