Need help, gore/blood is disabled?! :(

Hey, thanks in advance for reading. I recently bought fallout 3 GOTY edition for windows live, I've finished the game several times now on PS3 so wanted to start straight away with mods! in fact I bought the game to mod it. I installed a few at first to get the game to be playable (I'm on windows 7 i3 so needed to make a few small changes, including editing the .ini ect) and now the game runs fine, all the mods I installed are working ok and I like to think I've got the general hang of things after about a week of messing with it...

 

But

 

There's no gore/blood in the game. No arms flying off, no exploding heads ect. And there hasn't been since I started the game.

 

I've looked all over the internet and all I can find are people trying to turn gore OFF. I need to turn it ON somehow. I'm pretty sure I don't have the german version, I heard that gore is disabled by default in that... Sounds naive but would the case/booklet be in german? I think I'd notice :) my S/N on the side of the box is 21935. It DOES say made in the EU though on the barcode though... :/? There's still dead bodies and s*** in the game though like raider gore ect., so I dunno. It's just the animations.

 

I've looked through Fallout_default.ini, I've turned all my mods off and tried it vanilla, I've poured over settings ect. to no avail. I've tried installing the gore tweaks mod, didn't work either. Surely someone must know what's going on here. Like I said I'm new to modding and actually new to PC gaming, this is my first foray into it, so I'm sorry if it's an obvious problem and I'm spamming but it's driving me up a wall. Imagine standing two feet away from a feral ghoul to get 5 headshots in with a combat shotgun and then for said ghoul to just fall over gently. It's not cool.

I'm not even using that many mods and the ones I have are just kinda immersion things, and I don't think anything conflicts. I'm not sure if I've got my load order right but I've ran it past BOSS and it's checked out... The game is running fine, saving fine, loading fine and everything else is working... I've got a few plugins going in package manager? I don't know how much that could hurt but it's stuff like better map, type 3 replacer, things to that effect. There are a 1/2 'crash fix' plugins in there though, I thought maybe they removed the blood animations to prevent crashes or something? But I just disabled everything then restarted my computer and tried running it with out and I'm still getting nothing in the way of blood/gore. I have overwritten a few textures and installed some stuff that way, but just things like pip boy camo?! I don't think that would mess with blood animations...

 

I'll give you my fallout_default.ini too because I have made a few small changes to that... I heard changing the bUseThreaded ect. things could make it run better, but most of these changes I did after gore was already not working...

The 'bDisableAllGore=0' I put in to try to enable it, because I know that's the ini tweak to disable it with '=1' instead, but anyway it wasn't working before I typed that and I've tried removing it and putting a few other things in, like 'bEnableAllGore=1' and none of it has worked.

 

Also, fallout is installed in my program files, and I know a few people have said this can make it play up sometimes, but everything seems fine!

 

Should I re-install the game? can I keep my saves if I do? will all the mods stay active in FOMM if I do? Can't really be bothered installing and redoing EVERYTHING again but I will do if I must. :/

 

Anything to do with anti-aliasing ect.? (it's turned off)

 

Could it be FOSE? as far as I know I downloaded FOSE but then tried to install FWE and it said I didn't have it, so I just binned FWE and didn't think anything of it.

 

Anything else AT ALL I could try? Any ideas?

Try editing bDisableAllGore line in FalloutPrefs.ini in My Documents/My Games/Fallout3. Set it to 0 if it's set to 1.

 

Dude, thanks for the reply. You know I checked that earlier today and just checked it again to make sure, there is no such line in the FalloutPrefs.ini... Should I put one in? Cheers x

Yes, put in this line:

bDisableAllGore=0

That should enable the gore, since the game reads FalloutPrefs.ini in My Documents/My Games/Fallout3 and not the Fallout_default.ini in the install directory. Putting that line in it should enable the gore.

Well, that didn't work. I put that line in at the end off the FalloutPrefs.ini and still nothing. :( any other ideas? Fallout really isn't a fraction as good without the blood/realism ect., It's like playing f***ing depressing mario or something. Anyone have any thoughts on what could be doing this? It really is driving me insane.
