ynygma
Hello all, I have been modding Skyrim for over a month now and having a blast! This will show my age, but back in 94 I used to be a decent 3d modeler using 3D Studio. Now, I have not touched that kind of stuff in 15 years + so basically consider me a newb:) There is a clothing mod that I really like but I would like to modify it by removing a few pieces, etc. So first off, do I need to have 3DS Max or some other expensive 3D modeling program to do this? Secondly, could yall please point me to some tutorials on how to edit an existing mesh? I have found countless tutorials on what to do with the mesh after it is done by importing it into the CK, etc, but I can not find anything for how to modify an existing mesh, what software to use, etc. I apologize if this has already been posted somewhere here on Nexus but I am not finding what I need. Could yall please assist?:) Thank you,Ynygma
Amasido
Hi Yngma The software that you need is the fallout 3 bsa extractor which allows you to extract all of the data (meshes, textures, animations) from your skyrim game this includes any mods you use that have been packaged in that format. To edit the meshes that you have extracted you will require 3ds max and the nif plugin there is a student version available for free. Might i recommend you get mudbox as well as you will need to texture it this to is available for free for students. Bsa extractor: http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/34Tutorial on this process: http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DL40qoiuUXL4&v=L40qoiuUXL4&gl=GB Best of luck i hope this helps
ynygma
Wow!. Thank you for the info. I actually have a subscription to Adobe CS6 Cloud so I was hoping to use Photoshop for any texture work with the DDS plugin from nVdia. I am not a student though; so I can still get the free version of 3DS Max? What is the catch? Ynygma
