The Stupidity Of Using Steam

Sounds like you also downloaded the HD texture pack to me since that is about 3gb and the update was nowhere near that.

 

I suspect that it was texture packs, however, I also had these already installed and see no reason why I had to download them again. I now run Steam in Offline mode, and should update 1.7 ever appear, well, I will be sticking with 1.6, far, far away from Steam. The annoying thing is that the game cannot even be played during the update process, even though Steam does not seem to touch the files that are in the Skyrim folder during the download process.

Don't have a problem with Steam in general, it's just that it is complete overkill for a single player game that doesn't require syncing of data with others to run.

 

I just use Skyrim Unplugged until I'm ready to fully commit to update to the next version, then remove it before I go to work so I'm not sitting there waiting for an update the next time I want to play the game.
