Arrow Realism

In reality, arrows would pass through leather armor and other light armor with ease, but STEEL armor, they would not. Damage could be greatly reduced for us heavy armor users, such as a 2% chance to bypass the heavy armor and do regular damage. Or just an overall damage reduction when using heavy armor. Or if the character is shot in the arms or somewhere else that is not guarded by heavy armor. I am always getting torn to pieces by archers while trying to fight other enemies. Using the shield is a viable way to block arrows, but even I do use it, most of the arrows end up hitting me anyway. If someone could make an attempt at this, it would be fantastic and greatly appreciated. I would make the mod myself, if it were not for my lack of modding skills. I apologize in advance if there is already a mod out there such as this, and I am just wasting time. Thank you

PS: I am using the mod Deadly Combat, if that changes anything. I know that it most likely increases bow damage.

Skyrim Redone alters the way that Heavy Armor works with arrows so that there is a small chance that the armor will mitigate the arrow impacts, but that's about it as far as I am aware. Also, when you say "in reality," you appear to be assuming that more or less all of the bows ever used in a period-appropriate context were some manner of shitty, hand-carved shortbows or something. Archers were some of the deadliest troops on the battlefield when armed with combat-appropriate bows, especially longbows, which could easily put an arrow through a man in plate armor from a pretty great distance. This is a result of the rigidity of the materials used in metal armors; this aspect meant that the significant force applied by the (very small) tip of an arrow upon impact would far surpass the maximum force that the particular section of armor could bear, breaking it and allowing the arrow to continue on. STEEL armor was quite vulnerable, both because it was relatively thin and inflexible, and because steel can - depending on the method of forging - experience considerable loss of tensile strength when drawn out into shapes like long blades or armor.

tl;dr: Archers > knights in real life. Download SkyRe.

Thanks for the reply, and you are probably right about the penetration of steel armor and such, but it just seems a little annoying that arrows can be that damaging while wearing heavy armor. I was just frustrated that one arrow can drop my health to a point where a mudcrab could kill me, even with heavy armor.
