buffmaloney
Would I be better off deleting my mods and starting over? I don't think it's related to Vortex, but when starting a new game, my character is standing beside the wagon and the game sounds like it's working. It never changes from standing beside the wagon. dgenem
I had the same problem with Vortex. The first time it ran and installed a mod that suggested it, the game would not even start. I always used LOOT to keep my mods straight. LOOT did not fix it. But I then noticed Vortex disabled many of my mods for some weird reason. Thankfully, restoring just the load order list fixed it. I am giving Vortex more time and waiting until I have free time to learn it. Until then, I am downloading mods that want to use it seperately and still using NMM. I know it has it's problems, but I am used to how it works. I learned to save my load order and to make a compressed backup copy of my data folder a long time ago. I have had too many things happen to the point where I had to reinstall the entire game before and mods. Not fun. It seems that Vortex was not aware of the mods already installed and wants me to reinstall all my MODS and I do not have that much free time to mess around. So I would rather not fix a game that is not broken just to play. I am lucky if I get any time during the week already. But I do appreciate that they are working on Vortex as the new standard. And I will use it when I get the time. So... ...thank you for your continuing work for us! I donate when I can. :)
rmm200
Major caveat. You can not manage some mods with NMM and other mods for the same game with Vortex. Only one manager can own that game.NMM can manage some of your games and Vortex others - just not both managers on the same game.If you are switching to Vortex, plan on uninstalling all NMM mods from that game first.Seems obvious - but you never know. That said, i do not want to screw it up trying to delete them. It's been a long time since I messed with mods and want to make sure I do it right. I assume I can delete the mods from the NMM folder if necessary.
rmm200
NMM actually copies the mods to your game folder.Uninstall them from within NMM to get rid of them. Don't worry about the copy in the NMM folder until you want to reclaim the space. And if you decide to stick with NMM - they are there, waiting to reinstall. After NMM thinks they are all uninstalled, go to your games folder and clean up any residual trash. I suggest actually deleting the Meshes, Scripts, and Textures folders. Also delete any .esp files you find in the data directory that are not obviously game files. Then use Steam Validate to replace anything you deleted by accident. This process does not take long, and sure beats reinstalling the game. I click reacquire but it doesn't. Should I uninstall the game and start over? I do not care about game saves, just getting it working so I can play and mod. rmm200
Only way Vortex can crash is if you incorrectly installed part of it in the game directory.Install it again, and don't set mod directory or download directory inside a game directory.Run Vortex by itself - no game specified. Does it run?Stop Vortex and run your game as if there were no mod manager.Try starting SkyrimSE.exe. Does it work? Now try starting from skse64_loader.exe. Does that work? When all of these work, we can get back to running the game from Vortex - although that is never required.

But the men in the game are in their underwear. Also works through SKSE.
