Rigging problem in 3d Max 8

So, i want to do some rigging. The dirty method: copying the skin modifier from one mesh onto another one. The problem is just that the model with the modifier i want to copy is seperated into several meshes.

My question is: How can i merge or join the modifiers? Is there a way to make one single modifer out of several? Basically, that shouldn't be a problem, right?
