ItsVjustV
Hello! I am sure that i am not the only person trying to play the "crazy scientist" :geek: , installing mods for Skyrim SE to get the most fantastic experience ever  . And...i may not be the only person having broken my game, passing through numerous uninstall / resinstall processes :pinch: .After messing up (for good) 3 days ago my NPC textures (all NPCs) with overlapping mods that bleached the skin of all characters (both on Vortex AND as manually modified files ) i tried to use my Backupfolder to get back my orignal NPC textures. This didn´t work as expected because even with all texture and mesh modification/replacement i made, the NPCs had the same textures...strange. This led me uninstall the game and shred all mods i had installed. I manually erased the remaining game files (textures, meshes,...). What remained in my Skyrim SE folder were the Vortex plugin files and mod files. I reinstalled Skyrim SE then but as i took a look to the folder there were practically no files in the DATA FOLDER (see attached picture, i have only Video, Shader Cache folders and the BSA files; the rest are the remains of the plugins from Vortex). So there are no texture, nor meshes folders... I thought that i could restart Skyrim with Vortex, with all mods and plugins since the plugins were her in the folders but then i coudln´´t start the game because of THIS MESSAGE " ENOENT: no such file or directory, open F:// PRogram Files/ Steam/..../SkyrimSE/Data/meshes/actors...... I have no Meshes folder, and vortex searches for files i allready have erased. I can´t seem to erases all plugins from Vortex and mods in order to start a "CLEAR VORTEX" from scratch like i never used Vortex or even played Skyrim SE. I am stuck with this problem because uninstalling Vortex didn´t help since it saved the mods list and all plugins. The Game itself can only work on steam, which means unmoded. Can anyone help ? What can i do to erase completely Vortex files and restart a clean Vortex ? thanks for the Help.
rmm200
Kind of late for you now - but don't touch your game directory until you hit the "Purge" button in Vortex. That removes all the hard links.Except for those links, Vortex puts nothing in your game directory. You should never have to reinstall your game. Delete Textures, Meshes, and Scripts directories and any other leftovers you see in Data, then have Steam Validate.Heck of a lot faster than a reinstall - and just as good.Given that you did a successful "Purge" in Vortex, all you should have to do at that point is "Deploy" in Vortex.Edited to add - you never need to start Vortex to run Skyrim or any game. Just to manage mods. You can always start the game from the game directory executable.
