At one point Jeoshua was working on a uniform translation vector that rustreaver could use to expedite the process of creating the dummy weapon meshes, but I don't think that was ever accomplished.

 

If you have the drive to complete something like this for FNV, more power to you!

I think what would really help, is if I understood why it was happening. I'm a newbie and I jumped into modeling without learning any of the fundamentals (I'm trying to remedy that....have started reading blender 3D Noob to pro),

 

Maybe because the scene root is actually the Bip01 Spine2 bone.....everything is rotated to that orientation???

 

I'm guessing that's why it has to be adjusted/translated, but I really have no idea.

I'll probably plug along. At least as far as the adjustments go.....once I have a position for a rifle, most rifles (and similar sized weapons) can use the same translations.....so they'll just need minor adjustments.

 

Although strangely enough one player is seeing some deformation of his player model's head, which really surprised me since the whole rifle is rigged to Bip01 Spine2.......not sure what is going on.

 

 

Actually, doing a katana on the back would be pretty cool. It always bugged me pertruding all the way behind the leg. Maybe you could also put the combat knife sideways on the back, on the waste.

 

Cool, then I'll make that one my next model for tomorrow. Re: the combat knife, sure that's no problem. Although I wouldn't want to take up a body slot for it (ie loose one of the rifles slung across the back). Maybe I can do it without a slot, the downside there is, I'll have to find another way to determine which knife shows....combat knife, bowie knife, chances knife, bloodnap etc.

Instead of just putting things on your back, why not put the katana slung over you shoulder. Or a rifle doing that, i think that would make it look way cooler.

 

Sorry could you be a little more specific on the orientation? The rifles (and katana) will be slung across the back diagonally starting at the left should and the other at the right shoulder. Like this pic;

The Katana i could not find a picture for but just a katana with a strap that goes around your shoulder so that the hang guard would be pointing upwards.

And before you ask (if you wanted to) - yes, porting is possible afaik. The only problem is weapon modifications - long story short, even if port will be done, holstered weapons won't show modifications.

 

That does look pretty cool. This is a mod I've wanted to see, as well.
