Help to mod Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition

We see a lot of new players to this game get into major problems stressing "graphics".

I recommend you read the entire "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article to understand the differences between this game and others you may have experience with; especially if this is your first attempt to mod FNV or it's been more than a year since you last did so. First get a stable game setup before you pursue "graphic improvements" (which usually means "texture packs"). "Pretty does not beat playable".

"Texture packs" don't usually show up in the "load order". (They are replacing vanilla assets; thus they overwrite existing files.) And the issue with them is what size/resolution of the images you are using. Larger/"hi-rez" textures require more pixels, and larger screen display monitors multiply that requirement in a non-linear way. While your hardware may technically be able to handle it, the game was published in late 2010, designed for Windows Vista with maximum screen displays of 1920x1080, with default image sizes of 512x512 pixels. The game engine texture cache tends to be the bottleneck: "leaking memory" and causing "stutter". Please see the wiki "Display resolution versus Image Size" article.

Re: Mod recommendations. "Best" is so subjective and "personal preference" I refuse to get into the argument. "Endorsements" is as good a gauge of overall community reaction/acceptance of any mod as you are going to find. Just remember that older mods have had more time to accumulate endorsements compared to newer ones. But newer mods are generally in reaction to perceived issues with older ones that someone felt strongly enough to spend a lot of effort to create. Personally I judge them first on the description, then on reading the "Comments" tab to find what those issues are, and finally on the ratio of "number of downloads" to the "number of endorsements". (I only consider the age of a mod when there are several on the same theme.) There isn't any "magic ratio", but a high download count but relatively low number of endorsements suggest most who tried it didn't find what the description led them to expect. Comments usually help clarify that. But again, so much depends upon what you are looking for. Many "gems" just never found the audience they deserved.

When you go looking for help (and most of us do), Please provide ALL the information requested in the wiki "How to ask for help" article. Don't forget to identify things that do not appear in the "load order", such as if you are using a "regional language version" of the game; using the FNV4GB Patch, NVSE and it's related plugins; replacements for textures (specifically their larger image sizes: 1024x1024, etc.), animations, or "bodies", etc.; and "post-processors" like ENB or SweetFX. It saves us playing "20 questions" and gets you a more specific answer more quickly. (The usual turn-around on post and reply in an older game forum is 24 hours.)

* See "How to markup images (etc) in forum posts and comments" article for how to use "Spoiler tags".
