MrCooper2006
I know this has been asked since the dawn of time and im pretty sure its not possible. But some ppl are saying they have managed it thru the NVIDIA control panel? Although i dont see how this is possible. Sure you can set it to AAx16.... but when you actually load the game its not there, no visual difference at all. Any one got HDR + AA working with Nvidia Card? I got Nvidia GTX280 btw Cheers guys
Michlo
I would say "no" and also "what would be the point?". heh Cheers.
MrCooper2006
Just one thing that really bothers me! The towns look perfect but then at day time when NPCs are walking theyre outlines are really bitty and jagged it just frustates me. Just a little bit of 2x antialiasing would smooth them out. And the trees aswell, look a bit bitty at 1900x1200 Oh well, save on performance anyway
Grave77digger
Yes you can. Turn HDR on in the oblivion options. Edit "Multisample=0" in your oblivion.ini file. changing 0 to 8 will be 8XAA, 4 will be 4XAA, etc. Im not at home atm so im not positive of the line name but if CTRL-F Multisample it should come up. I just did this last night and was shocked what a difference HDR + AA makes. It makes all of those downloaded texture packs look amazing. Im using a 8800GTS 512 (G92). I'll give it a go too when I get home tonight. I had thought HDR replaced the need for AA, hence the (what would be the point?) comment but I'm very glad to be proved wrong. :) Kudos to you, mate. Cheers.
MrCooper2006
Wow, I hope this works. I thought changing that would just cancel out the HDR in in-game options. Gonna try it tonight thanks mate
Carah
I noticed a big difference when I have my settings on AA 8 sample, and took the HDR off and have it on Bloom. I also have my game on the lowest resolution for a wide screen. If I put my res. up it starts looking jagged.I just tried it with the HDR + AA, and I get jagged outlines on everything. I'm using nVidia 9600GT
MrCooper2006
Yeah i tried having full AA and using Bloom, runs nearly twice as fast. But looks twice as bad, especially the sun. Cant go back to bloom after having HDR! But if youre struggling to run the game definitely choose bloom no question.
WoogieMonster
There was thread some time back, about Oblivion looking so bad when you turn the graphics up. I can not remember if anyone had any good advice or ideas about how to fix it. I use AA and Bloom at 1920x1200, when I'm in the wilderness it's not really a big deal I can tolerate it, but walking through a town or standing next to a wall the lack of refined detail is really ugly. The street in Chorrol looks like it's made of Lego blocks and walls looked like they were painted by 6 year-old having chocolate withdrawals. Michlo
Well I made the changes last night so presumably I now have 8x AA as well as my HDR. I have to say, I don't notice a difference. Perhaps I was already too spoiled by having everything ultra-high at 1920 x 1200w. *shrug* I hope it makes a difference to some, though. Cheers.
