Surgical Scar
Okay, this came as an absolute nightmare to me, as after completing the first chapter of my mod, sourcing all the VAs, recording all the dialogue, generating the .lip files and basically getting it all done, I find that the minute I convert my .esm into an .esp, it stops detecting any of the dialogue recorded. This includes the GECK. When I load the .esp, it detects and plays everything just fine. When I load the .esm, it detects nothing. In-game, when using the .esp, the dialogue and lip-sync all work perfectly. When using an .esm, the subtitles display as normal, but neither the actual dialogue nor the lip files seem to load. I'm using the usual 16-bit Mono 44.1KHz .ogg format that I've seen everyone else using. The directories match up fine. 'sounds\voice\strangers abroad.esm\VoiceDoNotRecordM\filename' I've tried everything I can think of - changing formats to .wav, .mp3, anything at all, but nothing works. I did use the Skyrim Creation Kit workaround to generate the .lip files, but I can't see how that could affect the voice files themselves. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. This is driving me crazy.
Cyberlazy
Change 'sounds\voice\strangers abroad.esm\VoiceDoNotRecordM\filename'to 'sounds\voice\strangers abroad.esp\VoiceDoNotRecordM\filename'
Surgical Scar
Oh God. I'm such a freaking moron. Thanks for pointing that out to me - 90% of the time, these errors all boil down to something as minor as a few letters in a file extension. Cyberlazy
If it makes you feel any better, I have NO clue on earth why bethsoft has voice files linked to the mod filesname via what directory to put them in. Its really like.. What? why is that diffrent then every other file in the game?
luthienanarion
Probably an artifact from Morrowind days, when voice-acted dialogue was new and exciting and probably had its own internal engine. The bizarre voice file naming scheme supports this assumption.
