Stryfe23
Hi. It's been ages since I've modded Oblivion, and I've forgotten how to do all the Wrye Bash stuff. My original knowledge would probably be so out of date had I even remembered anyways. Okay. I'm running Win7 x64, and just installed Wrye Bash 299. During the install options, I selected 'Install for Oblivion', and 'Wrye Bash [standalone]'. Problem is that when I go to run the Oblivion Wrye Bash, I receive the following message. Error occured ------------------- See the logfile 'D:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Mopy\WryeBash.exe.log' for details Opening it up, I see this. Traceback (most recent call last): File "Wrye Bash Launcher.pyw", line 33, in <module> File "bash\bash.pyo", line 473, in main File "bash\basher.pyo", line 18479, in InitImages File "bash\balt.pyo", line 152, in __init__ bash.bolt.ArgumentError: Missing resource file: D:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Mopy\bash\images\DocBrowser16.png. Did I do something wrong? Because... there were no extra install instructions included with the installer. EDIT;NM. I uninstalled it, and reran the installer with admin rights. I'd mark the title as solved if I could... EDIT 2;Ummm... NM. This problem is back after closing, and trying to restart the program. I was running it from the installer's end option to launch Wrye after finishing. What am I supposed to do here? EDIT 3;Try running the Wrye executable as admin manually, or mark to 'run as', you say? Nope. If I try running the installed executable as administrator, post install, I get an error. Two things. 1.) Oblivion is installed to a non-default location, ie - D:\ drive. Wrye installs to the same location.2.) No executables run from this *local* secondary partition 'D:\' will permit running as admin. They all fail with a "can't find the network file/resource" error. All this to try out the All Natural weather... maybe I'll just accept that Wrye doesn't run properly from a non Windows main drive location, and look for other ways to run AN weather. theuseless
I see that it is within a folder named Program Files. I am new to win7 but maybe taking this part out of the file structure might help. Also sometimes you need to install python 2.6 with wrye bash. I have been running the pre alpha bash 3x and it works like a charm for me on my win7. You can also try to run the Program Compatibility fixer in Control Pannel\Troubleshooting. It probably won't help, but the python scripting might. Wrye bash is by no means an abandoned project. You might also post a request for help on their page here at the nexus.
theuseless
I have been informed the wrye bash page is at the official Bethesda site. Make an account there, log in and then search for Wrye Bash. They are very prompt at answering questions there. I have a hunch that it is because the folder it is contained within is in a Program Files folder. You should only need to use admin rights to install it. You shouldn't get uac blocking it otherwise. I have mine in an alternate install on win7. Heck, I even installed the game into a usb stick once. You only needed the stick and the disk to run it on your computer. It was fun but lagged like heck.
