ThroughFire
So I just got built decent new gaming rig, installed Windows 7 (Enterprise), got all drivers installed, etc. Downloaded and installed Steam, then thought "I should see what Skyrim looks like on this, as opposed to my 2 year old laptop..." So I downloaded and installed it from steam, hit play, and everything was looking good. First time setup ran, didn't see any issues, got to the launcher, which set the settings to ultra high. Sounded good to me, so I hit play and nothing happened for a few seconds. Then I noticed my cpu usage spike to 100% on all 4 cores for a second, then frop back down, and my ram started to climb about 2-3% per second from 23% up to 100%. At that point I couldn't even move the mouse, so I rebooted, tried it again, and same thing. I thought to fix it, I would completely wipe the hard drive, reinstall windows, and try again (I was already going to do this because of a few other little issues that I overlooked in my haste to get my stuff up and running). So I did that, long formatted the HDD, and reinstalled windows. I installed all the drivers in the right order, did all the windows updates through SP1, installed my graphics card driver, then steam, then skyrim again. Same exact thing happened. This time I had task manager open to see what was using to much ram just in case it happened again, but nothing showed up, everything looked like normal ram usage, except that it somehow got to 100% again. I have no clue what the issue might be. Every other program, and a couple games, run just fine. Any help? The hardware is an ASRock Extreme4 Z77 mobo, Samsung 1TB 7200rpm HDD, i5 3570K, and an HD 4670 (7850 on the way).
