msz666 Posted July 14, 2012 Share Posted July 14, 2012 hey, so i had/wanted to format my hdd.i copied the content of skyrim-dir as well as my savegames.formated.reinstalled the game, patched it up.copied all the old stuff to the correct places (including skse_loader etc.) but when launching it CTDs as soon as the main menu begins to load. do you have a hint for me? id be very thankful, since otherwise id have to fuddle around a lot in order to get things as they were before. thank you. bben46 Posted July 14, 2012 Share Posted July 14, 2012 Copying Skyrim doesn't work. You MUST install it. And that is easy through Steam. Once you have it registered through steam, you can re-download it and install that way. You CAN copy your mods and save games though. You should first start the game with no mods or save games - that allows the game to initialize some stuff. Mods may interfere with this initialization if they are already installed.
