Thacrudd
Whe I start up the CS, I only check Oblivion.esm to start a new mod. When scrolling through cells or items I see stuff from SI. I am using the GOTY version and I don't want to make my mod reliant on SI by accident. Is this just something I'll have to deal with and make others aware that they need SI to use a mod I create? I am also using lots of other mods for my game, I do not want it to be reliant on those either. I would think that a fresh install of Oblivion with no mods would be the best way to start a mod, but I really don't want to erase the copy I already have with all my mods already installed. Is there a workaround? Thanks.
herosinger
Though there is an SI .esp file, all the additions are actually patched directly into the Oblivion.esm when SI is installed.
giskarduk
Yup what Hero said, so you cannot actually avoid using SI stuff really. Beth did try and mark it all SExxxxxxx but not all of it is marked that way so sooner or later you might accidently select something. Also Oblivion + SE modders have a unique set of problems Oblivion modders do not have, like not being able to down grade to 1.0 to get lip sync or world space editing sorted. World space editing is bugged to hell in 1.2 a real pain in the butt. Still i make my mods using it so it works. Players that dont have SI will find more and more modders are making SI mods because the game of year has SI included and that is what new players are buying not the original disks. Plus modders like me use SI as a fantastic modders resource and when people see what we can do with SI stuff, they usually buy that expansion just to enjoy my mods and are happy to do it too. So its not a bad thing. Giskard
