Thorand smiled.

"I don't know what Cecilia has to say about it, but I for one think that's an excellent idea. If the new Dragon Riders split up, they can be killed off individually, and then the dragons would have just as much a chance to go extinct as they did before. It's better if we stick together. What do you two think?" Thorand directed the question at both Byron and Rafiki. Rafiki had supplied Byron with a horse, so he couldn't be that bad.

Rafiki chuckled, then replied

"I'm not gonna be here too long, mon. I don't stay around dat much. I walk my way, and show up when I'm needed. Like dem 4 bandits over there. Dey need me to beat the crap outta them, yeah?" He hopped up, swung off a branch and landed among some bandits that were creeping up. He whacked one on the head with his staff.

"OW! Hey, what did you do that for?" Rafiki grinned.

"It doesn't matter! IT's in the past!" The bandit rubbed his head, and said,

"Yeah, but it hurts!" Rafiki nods enthusiastically.

"Yes, the past can sometimes hurt us, but you can either let it keep hurting you, or learn from it!" He swung the staff again, causing the man to duck.

"See! Now what are you going to do?" The man drew a short club.

"First, I'm going to beat you senseless, then take whatever valuables you and those guys have there." Rafiki's hands moved quickly, and hit the man in he solar plexus, the face, and several pressure points. He spun and hit a bandit with a series of quick swats with his staff while the other bandit folded slowly and then hit his fist over his shoulder to knock out a bandit coming up behind him. The last bandit turned and ran. Rafiki burst out laughing and sat on one of the unconsious bandits, and ate a banana.

Thorand watched the entire show. He had already known Rafiki to be agile and mysterious, but now he knew for certain that he was a good fighter as well.

"I personally would have used something lethal to prevent them hurting others in the future, but otherwise? Nice work. Let's hope they learn something from this. Now, Byron, and Rafiki too, if you're coming, let's head on to Du Weldenvarden. It is unwise to keep Queen Arya oblivious to the prescence of these dragons any longer than necessary." He spurred the horse forward into the forest, hoping that she didn't mind wooded areas too much. He stroked her mane as he went. "That's a good girl. Someone's getting an apple.....provided I can find one."

  • 2 weeks later...
Koralina had successfully gnawed a significantly-sized chunk out of Cecilia's bag and poked her head through the hole. She looked around with almost unblinking white eyes, breathing in the fresh air with an obvious expression of contentment.

Byron chuckled.

"Ye better watch oot. Tha' dragon of yers just chewed a hole through yer bag. Rafiki, ye gonna... ach! Nae again!" Byron trailed off, as he once again noticed the Shaman had left while they were distracted. He shook his head, and kicked his heels into Napoleon, who obligingly followed Thorand and his horse, although not as quickly, due to his shorter height.

Rafiki swung among the branches of a tree until the group left, and dropped down to the soil. He chuckled to himself quietly, and walked off towards the Elven Forests. He would cross paths with the group again, he knew that. He had some other preparations to make.

Cecilia heeded Thorand's advice, continuing to run into the forest with a steady, untiring pace. Koralina watched the scenery go by, humming to herself as she did so.

Cecilia smiled as she whipped past trees and bushes, feeling as if she were at home again. She never was one to become homesick, but she decided that perhaps she did miss her home in the trees, after so many months away from it.

These tall things are trees, Koralina, she found herself saying to the baby dragon, And those are leaves. When we go farther, leaves will be replaced by needles, and the trees will become several times thicker and taller. Though I'll not kill anything myself, later I shall teach you to hunt for the animals in them.

She looked back, to be sure that the horses had not fallen behind, and slammed into a thick tree trunk at full speed, halting her. She then stood in place and, rubbing her sore shoulder, broke out in amused laughter, hearing birds join in with playful enthusiasm. And this is why one must always pay attention to their surroundings, Koralina.

Cecilia smacked into a tree, and Thorand chuckled in spite of himself. His horse was keeping up, although she was having a bit of a hard time of it. Once they were deeper into the forest, the issue would only get worse.

"You all right, Cecilia? That looked like it hurt."

Byron chuckled and handed a small bottle of a pain relieving draught to the elf.

"Here, this oughta work, even fer yer kind. Ah suggest ye drink it."

Ornthrond woke to here the elf communicating using her mind to the other dragon. Although it was normally not a polite thing, he didn't know that and reached to the elf, brushing her mind with innocent curiosity.

You, elf? You feel not like Byron. Why that be? I Ornthrond. Who you?
