just bought skyrim on the steam summer sale and thought that i might start modding it, however I'm totally new to this and have some basic questions.

1. can't you create a new project buy just clicking new somewhere? i feels as if I'm making a custom weapon and then want to make a recipe but want them to be in separate .esp i have to first save and then restart the software,

2. the save function. i mean it is quite the unstable software. so i was building a dungeon and suddenly it crashes for no reason. next time i start it up, it's all gone. But if i want to save a project and continue to work on it, i guess i have to save it as an .esp and the next time i start up the software i load goth skyrim.esm and mymod.esp?

3. is an .esm file just a bunch of .esp?

i will probably post more questions as i continue modding. thx anyway :D

1) I have no idea what you are talking about, as you cannot create NEW models (Weapons/Armor/bottles) in the CK you need 3DSMax/Blender or something.

2) The Bethesda editing software has always been a bit unstable, we just got used to it and hit the save button FREQUENTLY. And yes you have to re-load your esp when you want to work on it some more DON'T forget to set it as the active file.

3) There is not much difference between an esp & and esm, what differences there are, are quite subtle. However if you're new to modding forget about esm's, worry about them later IF you have to (I've been modding Bethesda games since TES3 and I have never had to create an esm). So to directly answer your question NO an esm is not a bunch of esp's.
