NMM not finding skyrim.esp

So I recently bought Skyrim through steam and am unable to mod it as NMM can't find skyrim.esp I pointed it to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim where skyrim is actually installed, but it's demanding that it finds skyrim.esp at C:\Program Files (x86)\The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim\Data\Skyrim.esp. Can anyone help me?

The only reason it should be looking in that directory is if there was a Skyrim install there in the past, IE a non legit version before you purchased the game from steam, you could try running CCleaner to clean your reg files but you may have to uninstall and reinstall skyrim after wards as well.

 

Its a lesson that piracy does not pay, but at least you have decided to buy it in the end.
