Collision Meshes

I'm attempting to alter and disassemble larger architectural and dungeon pieces so they can be used a more modular style in cell construction. Has anyone had any success creating collision meshes beyond the primitive forms using any 3D modeling program?

I'm currently using Blender, and recently downloaded and am learning 3DS Max which already seems better than Blender to work with Skyrim Meshes. All attempts of using existing meshes for collision meshes have not ended well. Primitives don't fill my needs on most of the models I am working with currently. I have been searching for info, tutorials, tips, for a couple weeks now, I haven't found any methods that work properly for my project.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, either a point in the right direction or someone who is willing to work with me solve this problem.

Collision data is tricky to get a grip on however read this tutorial for creating yoir collision data, my tip to you would be to break up an object into smaller pieces so that the collision data doesnt overlap sections of the mesh you dont want. If you dont understand you most likely soon will as importing one collision mesh for one complex obiect wont do it needs to be broken down. Remember practice makes perfect and good luck

Thanks.

I looked at this tutorial, but it didn't seem to apply to collision meshes in walls, floors and ceilings. I'll give it a try and report back what I find out. Currently I'm trying to modify the Riften Ratway Room Core as my example/learning model, which is the smaller round rooms found in the ratways.

So an update on collision meshes in complex static objects.

I tried to use the method of creating collisions in the CK wiki, but I couldn't get it to work properly with walls and floors.

I had tried an earlier version of Nif utils, but noticed there was an update. It took some doing, but I was able to make collisions for complex shapes. I would like to commend Skyfox and the people who helped him on figuring this out and making the utilities. http://niftools.sourceforge.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3562&start=60

I'm going to make a video and pdf tutorial showing the collision mesh method I figured out using 3DS Max, NifTools, NifUtils, NifScope and the CK to alter Skyrim Meshes. The same methods probably would work for creating new static objects and adding collision meshes to them.

I wrote and uploaded the PDF version of my Static Object Mesh Import-Export with Collisions Tutorial to the Nexus.

Here's the link: Static Object Mesh Import-Export with Collisions Tutorial http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/21065

Still working on the Video version, I will post once it is uploaded and ready to view.
