Assistance with porting Robot assets

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone.

I've been working on an overhaul mod for Fallout 3 for around a year and a half now called Fallout 3 Redux -- links to a concept brief. I've uploaded parts of it to Nexus -- mechanics and textures -- and would was due to upload the mod itself in May until I realised that some of the assets I had used were based on work that permission was not sought for.

As I noticed that I had become a recognised modder, I thought I'd post here to see whether anyone is interested in porting some assets across to Fallout 3 for the mod.

I've tracked down and gotten permission from the original authors, and though I have the aptitude, and have used Blender for some weapon models for Fallout 3. I just don't have the time to learn more of it in order to port these assets across. Any time I have, is better spent on other aspects of the mod like scripting or at least texture work.

What's required:

  •
  • 3 to 4 models ported from UT3 to Blender friendly format -- I can probably do this stage if required.
  • The models need to be then modified into the respective head, body and glove armor components.
  • In at least one case, I would prefer that some cosmetic changes were made to the model to make it more appropriate for Fallout
  • Optional: optimizing of the mesh if required, though, it shouldn't need it
  • Correction of the UV map if editing of the mesh requires it
  • Painting the armour weighting layer -- sorry, forgotten what it's called
  • Then exporting and editing of the nif in order to get it to work in game as armor

I also got permission from the authors to include their work in another mod to act as a modder's resource for the community to utilize. With a Fallout 3 and New Vegas version of this as robot resources is something that there is a lack of. I'm also happy to give credit for the porting work.

I'm really not looking for someone who is happy to learn how to do this stuff as they have the time. Won't say no if that is the case, I'm just more concerned about someone losing interest early on when they decide it isn't their cup-of-tea. What I'm looking for is someone who has had experience with this before and doing this is like a weekend or two of work, not, 2 or 3 weeks of learning how to do it.

Why I'm asking here first instead of the other forums.

Please PM me if you are interested.

Cheers,

Ivan
