cobaltofdoom
New Vegas is crashing at launch. Been a while since I've used mod managers. Last one was in fact MO.Installing a few mods (mostly textures) but crashes at start up. 1) Vortex version - Current - 0.16.15 (?) 2) Managed game having problems - FO:NV 3) Directory paths for download, mod staging, and game directoryQ:\Mod Instalations\New VegasQ:\Mod Programs\Vortex Mod ManagerQ:\Game Platforms\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout New Vegas 4) Number of mods downloaded, installed, and enabled. - 14 + NVSE (file attached to post a picture of the mods, crashes with those disabled or enabled) 5) If a specific mod is having issues, name of mod and download location - Been fiddling with enabling certain ones but still seems to crash it. Using Win7, 8gig ram, GTX960 Drivers are updated, FO:NV is updated What do? Edit: Oh I *think* I installed NVSE right, I put it in the correct folder. Tried launching from that and steam no differences. Edited January 14, 2019 by cobaltofdoom
rmm200
My word - you have a well reported problem!Crashing at startup is - usually - a missing Master. You don't need to have Vortex running for this.Run FNVEdit from your game directory. If there is anything missing, it will tell you. https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/34703 Also, fnv4gb is not run as a mod. Read the instructions, and follow them exactly. The .exe gets placed in your game directory, and gets run as Administrator. Then go back to Vortex. https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/62552 Edited January 14, 2019 by rmm200
cobaltofdoom
Thanks for the swift reply! 1. I basically copy pasted the report info from a post you made in a cranky person's rant. It gets things done so much faster when you have a bunch of info anyway. 2. Installed FNVEdit, ran it, showed no problems with all the mods enabled 3. Installed fnv4gb into the folder, it didn't seem to actually change anything and it launched the game. Not sure if that's all that was supposed to happen? 4. After further fiddling it seems that Nevada Skies is the culprit. No idea why though. I'm looking at the installation requirements but it only shows a manual install, nothing for a mod program. I assumed that Vortex would just take care of it automatically but maybe not? cobaltofdoom
So when it is enabled it *does* have missing masters but they are for FO3 because it's a mod that works for both games. But I can't imagine that'd be the issue because everyone would be having it right?
Solution rmm200 Posted January 14, 2019 Solution Share Posted January 14, 2019 Only The TTW edition should reference FO3 files. You MUST delete it; Vortex won't do it for you. As instructed, only use the one that matches your system. From the mod: 3. Choose between the files listed below and only activate one of them, never together!- NevadaSkies - Basic Edition.esp -> This file has to be activated if you do not own DLC Content Packs- NevadaSkies - Ultimate DLC Edition.esp -> This file has to be activated, if you have all FNV DLCs.- NevadaSkies - TTW Edition.esp -> This file has to be activated, if you have Tale of Two Wastelands installed.
