new game crash

all my mods are off, and just the ones made by TES are on. Start up of oblivion everything works as it should until i try to load a game or start a new game. The load screen comes up, and looks like it doing what needs to do. The just crashes to the desktop, non stop problem with this game.

 

 

 

not another restore... or reinstall.... 4 weeks of problems....

one of your mods is either conflicting or missing a critical file. check them off one by one in the launcher exe data files till you find the mod thats causing the problem. I dont know what is causing the CTD with the exact mod but this will take care of the CTD. maybe someone with more experance can help with the mod and how to fix it

Yeah try disabling all the mods except Oblivion.esm... if this doesnt work reinstall your game. If it does, you can activate the DLC one by one to see which is causing the crash

Phew... anyway... Which operating system are you using? Are all your drivers up to date? None of the game's files corrupt?

I am running xp pro Kuschel-Drow

 

As have read in past post on something similar to this topic. It might be Oblivion.ini file, how to deal with that is to uninstall.

 

 

Ill give you a little more back ground on this matter, the fact the rens beauty back wasnt even working nor was the elabrate eyes 1.1 working which is very odd. At this time the game was running without anything going wrong. So go back to mmob, turn off rens and elebrate eyes. Starting game back up for clear it, then Turn on the Cosmetic revived mod ccr_ee, Ren hair worked as it should

but the eyes did not. Either one was not working one or the other,back to square one! Doing everything through MMob, so i did one last try beautiful people 2.7. Game started up, went new game work fine life is good at this point. Rens still doing things, so at this point I turn off every cosmetic mod and tryed to play the game as normal. Crash that App error again shows up, here I am.

 

Oblivion will do the open credits play the little try a new game crash to desktop no error message. At least that was a good thing, just crash as it should. Load Save crash to desktop, so might reinstall oblivion. copy my mods over to some where safe and just delete the file oblivion after uninstall it.

 

Its user error, I very sure of that. But where is the next question, might been when i was changing everything out and might hit yes to copy over something. I always keep backup the meshes and textures for this reason that seem not to work this time.

sorry for the srupid post i wasnt really all together i usually dont give advice not my strong point and really not that late sorry. I think from now on Ill keep my mouth shut I think that It will help everyone :mellow:

Are you using OBMM and/or WryeBash?

 

They both have utility's for managing a repairing save games, I've never used them since I have never had a corrupt save game file. But it definitely sounds like you have data in your save game file that is dependent upon a mod that is no longer active in your load list, the solution is most likely to add back in your mods untill it works again. I'd check out OBMM and Wyre Bash if you haven't already done so they have some very good tools to figure out what mods your save game is dependent upon, if you need help installing Wrye Bash just let me know.

A corrupted save doesn't sound like the problem. It wouldn't crash, just say "save game is corrupted" before even starting the load screen.

 

What it sounds like is one of your mods may have adjusted the ini in such a way as to cause this problem. People have reported Unique Landscapes doing this.

 

Try adjusting compatibility as VIsta can cause this problem. Go to your Oblivion shortcut, right click on it, select properties, select compatibility and change the settings to an older form of Windows. Don't worry, Vista comes with these others.

 

Also, you may have to go to the NVIDIA site and update your driver. It shouldn't take long and it doesn't cost anything.

A month or so back, I downloaded a 'bad mod". By this, something extra came with it. It altered my NVIDIA driver so that it wouldn't read Oblivion. I suspect one I DLed off filefront, and have since not DLed a single one off of it(Half the other mods I got off that site were buggy or wouldn't work at all). What you may end up having to do is a complete reboot. DON"T DO THIS UNTIL ALL OTHER OPTIONS ARE EXHAUSTED.

Yep, definitlely can read. I meant turn off the DLC mods, then try.

 

If that doesnt work, go to OBMM and make sure all OMODs are disbaled completely, not just unchecked.

 

If THAT doesnt work, try let oblivion make a new INI file (backup your old one)

 

Finally, double check you do still have an Oblivion.esm.... as my brothers "disappeared" and we didnt notice for days.
