Chain of command mess (and why some people hate Minutemen)

Here is how chain of command works in Fallout 4. Some issues here are just ridiculous, the others are annoying.

If you join BOS, Paladin Danse is supposed to be your commanding officer, yet he takes orders from you. Sometimes
even responds with "Roger that". At first checkpoint of Danse's trust gaining quest he tells you that his commanding
officer was tough at him just like he is tough on you. I wish there was a dialog response like "You mean, just like I am tough on you ?".
That is a minor issue. The other is Preston Garvey, if you join the Minutemen. He is your subordinate yet you have to take orders from him.
It has been discussed already, but there is more. If you take him as companion, both of you are issuing commands to each other. Any
military in the world would call it a recipe for disaster.
Here is the *extremely* annoying part. I could assume that Preston's instructions are more like advisory, providing intel, etc.
But, why you have to report back to Preston after completing each Minutemen quest ? As supreme commander you report to
yourself only. It often means you have to travel to other end of the map, and listen to Preston's speech, which is rather lengthy
one. If you walk away early, the quest would not end, and you will have to initiate dialogue again. You have to listen all of the nonsense
to very end of it. It would have been easier for developers to omit that part, as well. Yet, there it is....
I have never joined Institute, just spied in order to destroy them. I guess that there are more similar issues you have as newly appointed Institute director...

Danse is your mentor, not your boss.

Preston is your assistant or facilitator, you know the guy person who answers the phones, looks after your diary takes the meeting minutes and orders lunch.

EDIT: replace guy with person for corporate correctness.

preston doesnt order you, he asks you to help out. you don't need to do it, which means its not an order.

Actually, you have to. It starts the quest and you can't refuse it. It is not like you ask: "Preston, do you have something else for me to do ?". It would have been cool if her was such dialog option, instead of adding a quest without question.

Why reporting back to him, anyway ? There is a settler who thanks you, gives you caps and that should do it. If you want more, go and ask Preston.

If not, that's it.

That is not true. When you ask Danse what is expected from you, he says "You will be serving under my command". When you meet Capt. Kells for the first time he say to danse that "recruit has been placed under your command". I mean, you guys can roleplay all you want, but I am complaining about game facts. Which are inconsistent for no good reason.

Preston should have been that guy, but acts as superior.

ACTUALLY, if you never report back to Preston, the quest eventually completes anyway. I never bother going back anymore.

If you had a friend who asked you for favors every time you hung out with them, after awhile you'd just avoid them. Same thing. ;)

Again, you seem to have no comprehension of the word "order" and what it means. Friendly advice, a dictionary and a thesaurus can help you. Hope this helps.

Well, you have not been helpful, that's for sure. You have to do whatever Preston tells you to, and you can't refuse it. And you have to report back afterwards.

You can call it whatever you want, if that makes you feel better.
