Devistating Criticals

Not sure how this would work in Oblivion, but there is a critical hit rating when fighting. One is when you sneak...which is kinda lame. Now, there is Prestige Class mod which I have from (someone, lol), and I play usually a Blackguard or Barbarian and sometimes a mage...the third is always female.

Anyways..onto my topic for a mod. In Oblivion we can do power hits, and sneak criticals. However, how about a say (for argument sake) a 5% Devistating Crit for power hits? For example, if we can do this, every certain % of the time (based on level, skills, and attributes) you dish out a 1hit kill, IE: Devistating Critical. The only way an enemy can avoid instant death is to dodge, block really well, or have heavily enchanted armor to resist weapon damage. Since Elder Scrolls can't invest in Save Throws, due to copyrights by D/D/Forgotten Realms.

I dunno. May sound gay for this game, but it's an idea I thought of. How would we do it? Enchant the weapon or the player?? If anyone can think of anything for this, lemme know; please.

Thanks, Blackguard666.

It would take a while, but you could do it.

The script, quite honestly, wouldn't be that hard, although it would be confusing to implement all the variables you mentioned.

The only problem is that many weapons in the game are already enchanted, so you could only do it to your average weapon.

Or, it could be possible to implement a general script that changes the effects of a power attack to include a small chance for an instant-kill.

It sounds interesting, and I might even start working on it, if, I or someone else can figure out the best way to do it.

I never really looked at the scripting in great depth, so I'll have to check it out. My coding skills have gone quite...south to say the least...Doh! Every weapon has a certain damage range based on the player. In D/D, it's opposite which is the trouble we can face. In D/D for example: A claymore/greatsword does 2d12 damage. Meaning: you roll 2 die, if you score 12, you score a critical hit; doing full damage. But this is based on your die roll, and mainly the enemy. Their A/C, save throws, parry ability, etc. In Oblivion, you do your own fighting and don't rely on die scripting, but your own skills. So, I have no clue where to begin, but I should be possible. I'll start looking into it further after I get this damn house renovating done. Ugh...

If we can do this, that'd be kinda cool. Of course this would be for straight, vanilla players with no enchants or buffs, otherwise you could just make a weapon to do 325 damage base. In D/D, the main save throw against a Dev Crit is having Iron Will, or in this case: Willpower. Or maybe agility...which seems to be more like it for Oblivion since agility prevents knockdown and recoil.

TY!
