NPC race changer

Is there a mod to either change the npc races or let you choose an NPC and change his/her race? I don't particularly like the look of the elves and would rather have them all as the cute elves, but that mod makes it an entirely new race so that none of the npcs are changed. Any help is appreciated.

The simple answer is no, but if Vagrant (sp?) looks at this post he may tell you the technical reasons.

He is pretty well clued on that stuff.

What happens when you change a characters race is you will loose their dialogue. Big problem....

 

I don't think the unattractive people are confined to the elves however, and it can be a bit strange

seeing a haggard and wrinkled face on a young body when using the various body mods.

 

I am pretty sure there are several mods that makes all the NPC's younger and more attractive.

Check the various face mods.

I'm already running a mod to make everyone younger, hehe. But then is dialogue dependent on race? All of it? Seems kinda illogical...

They're not all race-dependent, but all the ones specific to an individual NPC are, since they're only voice-acted for one sex of one race. Guards as well are only voice-acted for Imperials.

When i asked a similar question I was told. Dialog IS dependant upon race. Simply changing the race completely throws ALL dialog out the door because as mentioned alread, 2 voices for each race, 1 for women, 1 for men. If you change the race, the references conflict.

 

I have the Chins Demon Race, and Modems shop. I merged them successfully, then tried changed the shop keeper into a Demon instead of a Dark seducer. The result was a womans voice that greated me without the mouth ever moving. Purchasing things were fine, but no voice at all other than the greeting without animation.

 

Changing other NPCs will result in the same.

So is it possible to just replace the models and textures of one race with another one? e.g. high elves with the cute elves model so that the models race would not change, just the models?

Absolutely.

You take the Cute Elf models and put them in the High Elf directory. (Under Meshes/Characters/HighElf)

 

At least, I think that's all that needs to be done...
