JanusForbeare
RETURN TO MORROWIND* * * * *Deshaan District http://atvir.webs.com/tearconcept1_resized.jpgA view of the main gates of the slave-port of Tear, prior to its destruction during the Red Year.Concept art courtesy of Turello and the Tamriel Rebuilt project. Deshaan, homeland of the Great House Dres, where oppression was born. A land of teeming swamps and lush, fertile, plains; a land of infinite possibilities and abject slavery; a land more often than not soaked in the blood of its children. The Deshaan district occupies the southern mainland of what was once the Imperial province of Morrowind, situated on borders of the Dunmer homeland and the Black Marsh. It has been the site of some of the most vicious and brutal battles in either nation's history - most recently the Second Arnesian War, during which an Argonian horde overwhelmed their ancestral enemies and razed the slave-port of Tear to the ground. Today, Deshaan marks the northernmost reaches of Argonian power. The Dres have long since been driven out, with only small bands of fanatical loyalists lurking in the wildest regions of the steppes. However, the region is not as calm as it appears: political and social strife continue to wrack the district, as they always have. Worse still, rumours whisper of the gathering clouds of war: that a lost son of the Dres somehow survived the invasion, and now works tirelessly to build an army-in-exile, intending to rain down retribution on the enemies of his House. Deshaan, homeland of the Great House Dres, where oppression was born. Players may change, but the game never does. About this project Deshaan District is a project under the umbrella of the massive "Return to Morrowind" mod, which is in turn a part of the "Beyond Skyrim" mod network. "Return to Morrowind" aims to recreate the Dunmer homeland of Morrowind, albeit in its present, ravaged state. It is a well-organized, long-term undertaking that requires the collaboration of a number of talented modders, the ultimate goal of which is to develop a vibrant new land for players to explore. Unlike the other regions being developed for RtM, Deshaan is unique in that one of its primary questlines will essentially be of an "expansion pack" for another mod, "Atvir Dres: The Last Prince of Tear". While players will not be required to install AD to explore and enjoy Deshaan, those that do will be able to take part in a war that will significantly re-shape the physical and political landscape of the region. The purpose of this thread is to seek out and recruit talented individuals to join the Deshaan dev team. This team, which will operate under my (loose) supervision, will coordinate with the AD dev team and the other RtM dev teams, sharing assets and information as needed. Korodic
While I'd love to see this come to life, I'm fairly skeptical as to how this would ever get done. This would need a special dedicated team. Someone who can make morrowind inspired furniture, rugs, house pieces (like in CK, the building sets). You need these most of all so you have morrowind objects to place into your morrowind world, both interior and exterior. Someone else would need to make the land. & then develop the towns & etc to make sure the interiors someone else would be working on can be implemented easily. Also the voice actors & etc. I say this because it took me months to solo my arena mod, and I'm still working on it. Questing is the worst time consumer. Just make sure you have a game plan before you try taking on this project. I also know you aren't the first on to want to rebuild morrowind, there may very well be other people actively working on this project you might be able to join up and collaborate with. ~me two cents. JanusForbeare
All of that is already in development. You seem to be under the illusion that this is a new project. It's understandable that you haven't perused the RtM forums, but we already have modders working on a variety of tilesets, music, heightmaps, and other required assets. This isn't a theoretical project, this is an ongoing mod. What is new is my addition to the group and the formal establishment of a dev team for the Deshaan district. There are at least a dozen modders currently working on different aspects of RtM, and the size of the team is growing steadily. As for myself, I'm no newcomer to the CK, papyrus, scriptwriting, or project management. We are all aware of the scope of the project, and have no illusions about the amount of work that is required. RtM is arguably the largest, most prominent, and best-organized of the projects to develop the province of Morrowind. If anyone out there is looking to join a major project, you will never have to work alone as part of this team.
