Roggvir101
It seems like it is not possible to find out which mods have been most downloaded over a given period without the search automatically restricting results to only those mods Uploaded during that period. For instance, a search for the most downloaded mods over the past 30 days lists only mods uploaded over the past 30 days, sorted by the number of downloads. It does not list All mods sorted by how many times each has been downloaded over the past 30 days. Results are similar for other time periods (1 year; 7 days etc.).Alternately you can search all mods by setting the timeframe to All Time, but then you get a list of the most downloaded mods of all time - regardless of when the downloads were done. Am I missing something, or is there no way to get a list of most downloaded mods over a time period without restricting when the mods were uploaded? Thandal
@Rogvir; The number of endorsements is a better indicator of a mod's overall quality than the number of downloads. And you can search by "Most Endorsed - All Time".
Roggvir101
Thanks, Thandal. My issue isn't really about the value of endorsements over downloads as a measure of a mod's quality. The fact is both are options in the search function - i.e. both are available to be searched. The issue is that regardless of whether you search by endorsements or downloads, you can't find out which mods have been the most popular over the last thirty days (or 7 days, or whatever) without that list automatically excluding any mod not actually UPLOADED during the period. So say I take your advice and search by endorsements. That doesn't change anything. Still, if I search for most endorsed mods over the past thirty days, I get only a list of mods uploaded over the past thirty days sorted by the number of endorsements each has received. If a mod was uploaded 31 days ago it is excluded from the list even though most of the endorsements it received were within the search period. Similarly, an older mod that has recently been updated might have had a lot of fresh endorsements recently but will be excluded from the search results because its original upload was more than 30 days ago. I'm trying to find a way to remove that restriction and not exclude mods from the search results based on a criterion that is irrelevant to me - when the mod was originally uploaded. I don't want to do an All Time search, as I pointed out in the previous post because I'm only interested in mods that have had recent activity, not ones that might have been popular years ago but are now obsolete for one reason or another.
