Deleted25035774User
I had stopped modding Skyrim for a time, but recently decided to start again. My load order is big, however my PC has been able to handle similarly-sized load orders in the past with no problem. But now, Skyrim crashes when I try to start a new game. It will stay on the loading screen for a bit, and just as the music loads in, it CTDs. I already tried to optimize my load order in LOOT, I'm using crash fixes, memory patch, safety load and load game CTD fixes. I did what I could with looking for major conflicts in TES5Edit, though I am not very confident with the program right now. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled all of my mods, and I would rather not do that again unless absolutely necessary- it takes a long time with a load order this size. I first tried to launch my game by un-checking all the plugins I could, but even with only my Skyrim.esm and Update.esm ticked, it still crashed when trying to start a new game- even when using the regular launcher. I'm guessing this means that my problem is probably with my game's files themselves. However, I don't know how to pinpoint the problem or have a clue on how to fix it. Any ideas? wfandrews
I would delete your ini files in Documents/My Games/Skyrim, then verify your game files in Steam, if you cleaned your master files you will have to do so again after this. Then launch the game from the Steam launcher, this will create the ini files which you deleted. When you verify your game files one file will always fail to validate, don't worry about it this is just your graphics file which Steam cannot validate then, when you launch the game it will install. Before you do this you should uninstall all your mods except maybe USLEEP. If the game then launches I would play thru to when you exit the cave in Helgen and then make two or three saves. Copy those saves to a folder and then start adding your mods four or five at a time. I usually just play to when the NCP you followed tells me about Bleak Falls Barrow giving him chills, then exit out, add some more mods and do it again. It is a long and tedious process but should give you a stable game in the end. If the first part of this post does not work I would google something like "make Skyrim vanilla again" and you will get links to two or three guides that will tell you how to do so. Any one of those guides will do the job just pick the one you like. Personally I like Avrie's guide but it is a matter of personal preference. With that mod load I would also create a bashed batch. Thank you! I've managed to get my game up and running with all mods, and have made it past both the main menu and character creation (in alternate start). A new problem, however, is that Skyrim apparently can't allocate enough memory. Whenever the cart gets close to Helgen, or sometimes sooner than that, the game will minimize and an error message from crashfixes will appear on my screen: "Skyrim has failed to allocate memory! Possibly running out of memory. Size / alignment of object being allocated was 5592590." I am using the memory patch (set to 2048 I believe), and have tried to install lower-resolution versions of textures I do not think are vital. However this issue has persisted. I'm not too sure of the cause or how to fix it. Quick edit: I've fixed my memory issue as well. At this point in time, ENBoost is a must have for a heavily-modded setup in my opinion.
