CloudLamda
Hey guys so Im just wondering if anyone else has ever come across this bug. So basically an NPC would just randomly die or already be dead, ie the Glowing One in the middle of Novac or the Nightkin that gets shot by Harland as you enter the door to the room where he does his business inside REPCONN Basement. So with these NPCs, approaching the vicinity of the Glowing One in Novac the Glowing One would keep killing itself, even though it is already dead on the floor entitling me the XP even when Ive not touched it. It would do this whenever I move around it, giving me more XP on auto but if I stood perfectly still and looked around it wouldnt trigger whatever script that is. So I saved it and shut down the game and then loaded it back up again to perform the same error, but when it kills itself the game freezes up for at least 5secs as if there was some kind of memory leak. On the note of the Nightkin by Harlands door in the Basement of REPCONN, as soon as I reach the first door from entering the Basement I would hear a whaling death noise, which I can assume is the Nightkin dying by the door. So I go up to the dead Nightkin, saved and closed. Booted back up again and loaded that save and upon loading into the game that Nightkin would make its death sfx, again, even though it was already dead. Now Im pretty sure thats not supposed to happen.....going by my previous play throughs.....so itd be slightly annoying to come across other already dead NPCs that let out a death sfx as soon as you approach them. Hmm... So just for disclaimer, Im using MO and Im in fairly intermediate/adept at it now (been using it for the past 2 months straight) and as a basis Ive followed the Fear & Loathing guide to the letter! Some mods I didnt feel were necessary so I freed up some plugins ie the Tops Casino lighting and a couple of graphical mods. Ive correctly set ENBoost for my GPU using VRAM Test and also use the latest NVSE, NVSR with ini tweaks, the 4GB patcher and NVAC along with basically everything from the stability section in the F&L guide. LOOT has been run along with Bash Tags for every plugin and a Bashed Patch. I would have thought something like this wouldve been covered by YUP or the other bug squashing mods but, this is particularly random.....and I cant seem to find anyone else with this particular issue... Anywho, anybody that can throw a hint my way would be really appreciated! Thanks guys, and thanks for reading this far! dubiousintent
It sounds like you are activating a "trigger marker" with the Glowing One. The problem is not apparently with the marker itself, but with the script run by that marker not detecting that it has already run once. Assuming these instances are part of the vanilla game, they might be something fixed by YUP (do you have the latest version?) or some other unofficial patch file you do not have installed. Or they might be the result of a mod conflict or simply "too many active plugins". Please see the 'Vanilla "Load Order"' entry in the 'First Timer Advice' section; and the 'Common Game Problems' section of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article. I recommend anyone read the entire "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article to understand the differences between this game and others you may have experience with; especially if this is your first attempt to mod FNV or it's been more than a year since you last did so. If that is not sufficient to identify the cause, we REALLY need to see your sorted "load order" as produced by "LOOT"; to include the main game and DLC files. With modded games its the sequence, not merely the list of mods, which is the cause of many problems. LOOT's sort gives a good first approximation, correcting the most obvious issues and is sufficient for most players. You can make minor adjustments to the order and tell LOOT how to remember them. It's in the on-line documentation under "Metadata". Instructions on how to copy it's list for posting are in the "How to ask for help" article, and "Checklist Item #11' entry in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide. Along with that try to identify a specific, repeatable circumstance (such as the Glowing One) for testing. -Dubious-
