Better lighting for pine trees

Recommended Posts

Ive been trying to change the lighting of pine trees, my mod that i have is https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/36820. It seems to be a common problem with pine trees in this game is that they will look almost black from certain angles. Here's a pic to show https://imgur.com/a/SgjmgWw

I've tried the reverse engineering route by looking at material files and meshes from other trees and using those settings but that didn't seem to work.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Try increase the backlight power. In FO4LoDGen tool it mentions that you can select an option to use a backlight value that is set in a material file. This is supposed to improve the look of the lod meshes that use the double sided flag. I did notice when making my own LOD mesh for the Chargen Aspen tree and using a double sided LoD mesh taken from the Hero Tree lod, It looked darker than using a mesh lod that was not double sided.

The pine leaves are all double sided. In creasing the backlight poer seemed to help a bit for the lod mesh I created. I adjusted it in the nif file alone because no material file for that lod existed.

For the pines you will probably need to adjust it in both the nif and the material file.

Not sure but worth a try?
