Greb
I have been checking the mods, and there's really a lot of them, each one with its own incompatiblities and tweaks... so... I was wondering if perhaps somebody has a nice good inmersive combination for Skyrim. When I talk about 'inmersive' it's about, well, feeling you're there. Realism. Mods that makes nights (and dungeons) darker and the sunlight brighter, or makes you froze when you are into the wild with no fire, or makes the NPCs to behave more like real people, those kind of things. Anybody has a good combination that works fine with no incompatibilities?
RitualBlack
I like the following mods: Imps More Complex Needs -Makes food and drink needed to survive. There are several compatible mods you can choose from on the file description. Climates Of Tamriel -This weather/lighting mod give Skyrim a great look, adds new weather systems and gives you a more realistic night feel (+many other things). Static Mesh Improvement Mod -Some of the vanilla textures and meshes really killed the immersion for me (for example 2D chains in a 3D world) and just about everything is improved with this mod. Frostfall - Hypothermia Camping Survival -With this mod you will need to stay warm. Very immersive. Camping Kit of the Northern Ranger -Allows you to set up camp. It goes really well with Frostfall. WATER - Water And Terrain Enhancement Redux -Makes the water look nicer. Skyrim Monster Mod + Skyrim Monster Mod Replacers - Lore Friendly and Others -Be careful with the file versions/installation. Make sure to use the read-me. These mods add a lore friendly creature expansion to the game. These are most of the immersion mods I use and they work very well together. Make sure you go over the file description page to understand proper installation and to see if there are any other suggested mods you may want. Have fun  . You can also search the top 100 files for immersion to see if there are any others you may want.

Jay33721
You should also try Interesting NPCs. Not all the characters it adds are voiced, but there is a Voiced Only Version that adds 52 fully voiced, immersive and interesting characters to the game. To me, it's one of the greatest mods for immersion!
jiltedjock
hi I've come back to Skyrim after 9 months or so away, I was quite into it round about the time that Wars in Skyrim was updating every other week, pre SDK. Looking through the Nexus, I can see things have moved on a bit since then. I too am looking for immersion, I can see that some of the mods listed above look like the kind of thing I am after, Does anyone have any updates to add? I am looking for: Immersive / tactical / difficult combat - better AI combat, AI working together, AI using potions/spells. I used Duel Combat Realism previously and liked the blocking/stamina effects etc, combined with some elements of PISE (?) for the NPC AI. Better look and feel to NPCS - cloaks, armour, variety. A better economy - more difficult to get gold, more incentive to rob and cheat, harder to get good armour/weapons Harder travelling / harder map reading - no compass hints, no fast travel, need for a horse etc More going on in the world - I quite liked Warzones Civil Unrest, although sometimes it could seem a little like SKyrim was full of Flashmobs More realistic movement speeds, first person perspective etc I'd be interested to hear from anyone who can recomend mods / good combinations to produce this sort of experience. JJ Hi There, I was looking for the same set of features/mods, and this is what I've collected so far (and running stably). Also, to have NPCs carry items added by mods (like weapons/armor), and have merchants carry mod-specific items, you need to create a bashed patch using wrye bash (REALLY EASY). If you need help with this PM me. Combat - Duel Combat and PISE worked best for me. Food/Realism - Realistic needs and diseases. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/26228 - It's the most streamlined, straightforward hunger/sleep/inebriation mod I've tried. Includes deployable bedrolls/tents/cooking pots/tinderboxes you can drop anywhere in the wild to really "adventure" Harder Travelling/Harder Map Reading - Try out Sands of Time http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12452 - It adds random events (probability based) to sleeping, waiting, walking (exploring), and fast traveling. For instance, you may take a nap on a dungeon bedroll (bad idea), only to wake up to a Draugr ambush. Or a late night walk in the forest only to be ambushed by a Vampire scouting party. For the sleeping events, it even blurs your vision for the first few seconds to emulate first waking up. The mod works well with Deployable Traps http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9463 (you can leave bear traps or caltrops by your bed for any would-be attackers :)) Also works well with Realistic Needs and Diseases (by simply requiring you to sleep-- something you rarely do in vanilla skyrim). All of the event probabilities for Sands of Time are logical (i.e. you won't be attacked when sleeping in your own bed in your own house) and there's even a "lore toggle" that removes all non-lore elements in one fell-swoop. Freaking sweet mod. Better look and feel to NPCs - You could go a couple different directions for this. You could change their appearances, you can change the items (weapons/armor) they spawn with, or you can do both. I tend to prefer just changing npc items, as I don't have too much an issue with the way vanilla npcs look. For adding armors/weapons, I use Jaysus Swords, and Immersive Armors. Better Economy - Try Economics of Skyrim It makes vendors carry regionally appropriate goods, jacks up the prices, and includes high level gear right from the start. So you'll see ebony level stuff right from the get-go, but it will cost you like 6000 gold just for a pair of boots ;) Lastly, try out More hotkeys Please http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/23416 - A lot of mods include new powers and it can get a bit cumbersome having to switch between them all the time. This mod allow for multi-press, press-and-hold, and double-tap hotkeys. So, for example, the realistic needs mod adds a power called "check needs" (you use it to check your hunger/sleep/thirst levels). I have this hotkeyed to Shift+1, so whenever I need to check my hunger levels I just press that, without switching out my Shout or whatever other power I had equipped. Another example - I use a double-press Shift hotkey to do Whirlwind Sprint. There are WAY more cool mods out there, but I feel these add to the game in the way you're hoping. bruniss
I saw a mod that modifies the looks on grass and other vegetation, making it very real. Which one is it?
cormell
Looking for immersion - in armor, defintely check out Immersive Armors by hothtrooper44. Personally, I'm tired of all of the screenshots of mostly naked girls. And to some extent of all of the glamour faces. - I don't think the women of Skyrim spent too much time on the fashion show runways. The faces provided by these mods are indeed gorgeous - I'm just going in a different direction. Like Women of Skyrim and Better Male Faces. Also like Amidian Born retextures of armor. Trucidation
I don't care for the glamour faces either, if I want that I just go play Studio Illusion games. Immersive / tactical / difficult combat - better AI combat, AI working together, AI using potions/spells. I used Duel Combat Realism previously and liked the blocking/stamina effects etc, combined with some elements of PISE (?) for the NPC AI.ASIS replaced PISE (same author), for the other stuff have a look at ACE ( http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/10037 ) Better look and feel to NPCS - cloaks, armour, variety. - "Immersive Armor" ( http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19733 ) - the weapons optional addon is bugged, stay tuned on the comment thread - "ARMONIZER Armors Pack" by Ketaroz ( http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/27028/ ) - "WEAPONIZER Weapons Set" by Ketaroz ( http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/24015 ) - "Cloaks of Skyrim" by Noodles ( http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12092 ) I try to avoid single-set mods, we really need some kind of Automatic Variants process for equipment too. A better economy - more difficult to get gold, more incentive to rob and cheat, harder to get good armour/weapons Harder travelling / harder map reading - no compass hints, no fast travel, need for a horse etc More going on in the world - I quite liked Warzones Civil Unrest, although sometimes it could seem a little like SKyrim was full of Flashmobs More realistic movement speeds, first person perspective etcMy playstyle is different so I don't have much for you here. Been shopping around for more conflict as well, but so far Warzones still does it best. The alternatives all seem to have deficiencies - Occupy Skyrim spawns way too many mobs, even worse than Warzones (author has said he's working on a toned down version so keep an eye out); Immersive Patrols is closest but it has the deal-breaking bug where factions you're friendly with STILL attack you anyway. - "Skyrim Immersive Creatures" ( http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/24913 )I wanted to try SkyMoMod (Monster mod), but it's been wonky as of late and I got tired of waiting for the Lore Friendly Replacer mod to keep up with it. Immersive Creatures is a good replacement. - "Camping lite" ( http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/11526 )Always thought it weird that the player didn't know how to take a break and set up camp for the night. This is the least intrusive of the various camping mods. - "Conjure Rideable Ethereal Horse Spell" ( http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9534 )Got tired of losing horses to dragons, random bandits, etc. This may be a bit too convenient for your tastes though. - "Choice is Yours" ( http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/26359 )Stops the automatic forcing of quest acceptance on various quests until you explicitly agree to take them on. - "Automatic Variants" ( http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/21377 )Cosmetic. Instead of fighting off 3 wolves that look like clones of each other, they all look different now. Ditto many monsters. - "Mighty Magick Skyrim" ( http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/13166 )Balances and tweaks to vanilla spells. Originally I wanted to choose between Better Magic or Improved Magic, but they both have issues.
gurugeorge
Great responses, I've tried nearly all the mods listed above and they work well, in various combinations. Top tip: if you're going to be trying out lots of different mods, use Mod Organizer rather than NMM. MO allows you to have an unlimited amount of "profiles", which are like virtual installs, so you can have a "vanilla" profile (to build new profiles from), a "realism" profile, an "eyecandy" profile, etc., etc., all separate. It means you can basically try out mods till your heart's content on the side, without touching or screwing up your main ongoing gameplay selection. Seriously, if you're into modding, it's a must-have. I've found the overhaul mod Requiem, in combination with Alternate Start plus Classic Classes, to be really very good for realism in terms of making the world harsh and unforgiving, very old skool in feel, and it goes well with Imps Needs, which is insanely complex (but can be simplified to taste), but you need a separate camping mod for it. Realistic Needs and Diseases is great for non-overhaul setups though, and includes its own camping, and has lots of compatibility patches. Also, Frostfall (or Hypothermia) is essential to any realism setup in a cold, harsh land.
