jiltedjock
thanks very much for the replies guys, as you can imagine it is pretty daunting coming back to the Nexus after this length of time, these all sound like the kind of mods I'm interested in. cheers
SkjoldBjorn
You can always try out Immersive Content - Exterior Lighing Enhancement I made lights and fire go out during day, i made it because i think it was more immersive than having flames burning 24/7. Check it out for more info. Other than that i find Climates of tamriel to be a massive improvement to immersion. I would also recommend Pure Waters i find that mod to be very realistic and very nice, i used WATER until i found Pure Waters. Both good, my preference falls on Pure Waters, but many choose WATER as well.
Ghrathryn
If you're looking for more trouble on the roads, try ESRO combined with Deadly Dragons and Diverse Dragons to amp things up, also try getting hold of Immersive Patrols and Warzones to actually give the feeling of war. SkyTest can help with the animal AI, but it might conflict with ESRO since that has a creature AI module. You can also try CLARALUX for a lighting mod combined with Climates of Tamriel since the former adds lights to various places that do seem to be out during the day and watch out at night or when speluncking/dungeoneering, those places are dark. Candlelight, torch or one of the lanterns from the craftable lanterns or wearable lanterns mods will help. Other things that might help out... the 2K textures packs are a major upgrade over vanilla Skyrim for detail, though go for the light version if your machine's a bit slower. There's an arrows and bolts modifier that will let you change how those behave in game, including speed and damage variation between materials. Better Dynamic Snow is also one for improving the snow around the place, but load it before SMIS so the textures are over-written and the better meshes apply. Lorecraft looks like a potentially useful mod, though if you use mods for armour/gear, try to find ones that have Lorecraft modules to avoid them randomly appearing in the craft list while others don't. Going with that one, you can try Palantir's or Domino's Perk Books as a much more realistic way of getting extra perks, or even perks at all than swapping dragon souls for them. For the rest, maybe a blood mod if you like messy combat. Enhanced Blood Textures seems pretty decent, but it wasn't liking something in my mod selection and Crimson Tide 2.2 doesn't seem to like my mod set either as it crashed my game, though there are others around. Something else that might be interesting for you for additional creatures is Immersive Creatures either alone or with Skyrim Monster Mod and speaking of that one, grab the extras for it, the conjuration and items addons. You may also want Monster Wars, but be aware that it gives armour/weapons that aren't Lorecraft compatible as yet and the centring is out by a lot on some items in inventory/craft. I'd also be on the look out for monster attacks as you leave towns, I've had a sea dragon in the river near Riverwood, a drake and drakeling show up at the farms by Whiterun and a frost giant attack at the stable for Windhelm, all of which happened with me as a 1st level character. I'd also watch out for 'strange travellers' which I believe are among those added by ESRO... they seem to be either psychotic or suicidal because they like attacking random people and getting dead, good way to get some starting gear if they appear though.
