creation kit follower; 3 quick questions

iv followed a few tutorials on creating a follower and have run into a few bugs that arent covered in the tutorial. judging by other follower mods, im assuming there is a fix.

1. after i finished creating my npc his skin color gets pretty pale, kinda greyish, and the war paint dissappears. i found a fix through the console setnpcweight 100 that did the trick but as soon as i went through a door it reverted back to being pale. is there a more perminent solution?

2. i gave the npc dwarven armor without the helmut but once i told him to follow me he changed into steel armor, which wasnt even placed in his inventory. how do i fix that?

3. where do you edit the perks for the npc, i thought i added a couple to certain vanilla followers, but i cant remember where that was or if im getting that confused with something else. can you actually give them perks?

anyway thats all i need to know, thanks for the read.

(1) To fix the first problem here is the wiki page: Dark Face Bug.

(2) NPCs like to wear outfits rather than loose items like the player character does. You will need to set the outfit to what you want the follower to wear when not following, and have it contain cheap enough gear that the follower will prefer to wear good items you give him rather than wearing his outfit. (He will still wear his outfit when off duty.)

(3) Actors are often given powers and abilities as well as spells and diseases from the Items > Magic > Spells menu.

Also, regarding point #2, any follower that uses the vanilla follower factions will have his or her outfit set to steel armour (and will also be given a hunting bow) by the follower alias in the DialogueFollower quest. The only way to avoid this is to change the alias' loadout (which will affect all followers) or to create your own follower factions/quests.

the dark face bug is fixed, my redguard actually looks like a redguard, and the spell list tab that contained the perks, i have no idea how i missed it for as long as i did. blind as a bat. as for the armor thats still an issue, i changed it to monk robes and put the dwarven armor in his inventory, he still switched to steel armor. as for altering his dialogue alias thinger, im a little confuzed by that but i think i understand. even so though it looks like it would take a lot of working around and making sure i dont mess something up ...which i always do in these situations. with that said i think im going to leave it alone, i have a mod that allows me access to my followers complete inventory so i can change it at any time so im not worried about it

thanks for the help with these minor issues, they have made a ton of difference. thanks again.
