PsychoSlammer
So you installed Skyrim, and then you goto a mod site for Skyrim among many other games and are wanting to know if you can install mods? :) yes you can install mods, you would need a Mod Manager like Nexus Mod Manager or Vortex or Mod Organizer, then google SKSE then maybe get a mod called USSEP and XPMSSE and... actually just youtube "install mods skyrim" :)
LithiumEX
ok, that's perfect, that was going to be my question after I solved my first one, but thank you so much for your time and guiding me in the right direction for next cause I did read that putting them in order matter! but what I'm asking is I played Skyrim before and I loved it, now I never got anywhere close to completing it so I have it installed now and even have a few saves, if I were to mod it now, would it change the gameplay or even the storyline?? I thought I read that somewhere so that's why I'm asking on here now :)
PsychoSlammer
so you are asking if your old saves will work on the new system and with the basically same mods but obviously updated? i would like to say sure, i dont see why not. certain mods change the story line and gameplay, but usually that is what "that" mod if for :)

wfandrews
There is a difference between SSE and oldrim or Skyrim Legendary Edition.. If what you have installed now is SSE with a few saves you can install SSE mods. Having said that it is never a good idea to install or uninstall mods after playing the game for a while and making a few saves. There is the very real potential of breaking that profile. Before doing anything else you should look at the pinned guides on this forum and the Steam forum and gain an understanding of the tools needed for a stable modded game. You cannot just download a bunch of mods and expect your game to work with no problems. You should have at least a basic understanding of LOOT, TESSEdit, Wrye Bash, and the mod manager of your choice. As for the mod manager I would recommend either MO2 or Vortex, if you are going to go with NMM you should download it through github. Be aware that NMM is no longer supported by Nexus; which is why it is just a few stubborn old farts like me who are still using it. Although the learning curve may be a bit higher for Vortex and MO2 if you are just starting modding your game you would be well advised to use one of those two mod managers. There is a Vortex forum on this site in which you can get help for any problems that may rise if you are going to go with Vortex, and you can ask questions about MO2 on this forum or the Steam forum and there are people on both who, I am sure, will be happy to help you. Sorry about the two posts but I got an error message when I first tried to post it and then tried again and evidently it posted twice. I could not find any way to delete this second post.
