How to make Vortex go away?

I have been using vortex and noticed I get corrupted save files. This never used to happen but of course, it may have nothing to do with vortex at all and given that things got really complicated with my mods, that wasnt why I am getting rid of it.

So I tried to remove it. Deleted the mod folder. Deleted Skyrim SE and then, reinstalled everything.

To my utter horror. I cant use Skyrim SE at all because there seems to be something persistent in Vortex which wont go away, even though I deleted it and reinstalled. It still tries to show me all of the same mods! Even though I actually deleted the entire mod file while trying to sort this out. I cant explain how annoying this is but I am sure you can imagine.

How do I kill this thing permanently? It was ok but it tries to do more than it is capable of in terms of mod load order and gets in my way when I am trying to sort things out. So I may go back to NMM (primarily because I like the ease of manually just dragging or clicking the mod load order up and down). Manually overiding the mod load order is an option but not a very friendly one and I am never quite sure if it actually did it.

What is the persistent file that doesnt go away when you uninstall then reinstall it?

For starters, there is no way for Vortex to corrupt saves, that's something that would be down to the mods you are using (maybe the wrong combination of mods).

Uninstalling Vortex correctly is laid out here: https://wiki.nexusmods.com/index.php/Removing_Vortex

"It still tries to show me all of the same mods!"

I am not sure what you are trying to say. Where are the mods shown? Did you purge your mods before uninstalling Vortex?
