Is there a program that can determine crash sources?

Crashes for F:NV seem to be pretty regular for me. If I go for about 10-15 minutes straight, CTD. Granted, I use a LOT of mods, but my computer should be up to the task. Besides, it bears heavier loads when I play Skyrim. As such, I find it hard to believe that the crashes are caused by RAM overload.

As such, I'm wondering if there exists a program that I could have active while I play that could detect what goes wrong when a crash occurs. It's probably a long stretch, but having such a utility available would be immensely helpful.

If one doesn't exist, it probably should. It can be so easy to have CTDs with Bethesda games, so being able to monitor where your game screws up would be so helpful.

Get GPU-z

I found FONV was using up every last meg of video ram with just the medium NMC texture pack. Even with small im using 600~700megs after installing it ontop of PocoBueno.

I found a few areas in AWOP that crash constant untill I lowered my video memory usage by switching to small.

Basicly, every time FONV crashed I was using all 896megs of my 896 megs of ram. (Don't ask about the funny number..)

have same issues countered in AWOP areas not only but often.

but i think is not the Vram overflow, my target is the cpu, i run fnv on a intel 2 quad. and it since there fnv have problem with this.

i found an "quadcore fix" and edited my ini. that fix helped me a lot. crashes are gone so far. but sometimes i got freezed on loadingscreens or ctd like those in the AWOP area.

i can running hours over the wastelands ...no crash.

maybe the "quad core fix" can help you.

http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Fallout_NV_Troubleshooting_guide

Open up the fallout.ini file in: Documents\My Games\Fallout New Vegas:

Find the line: bUseThreadedAI=0

Change it to: bUseThreadedAI=1

Add another line after it and insert: iNumHWThreads=2

This will prevent the game from using more than two cores. Multi-cores cause crashes in the Gamebyro Engine. If the game still crashes change to: iNumHWThreads=1

edit:

and turn off AV for FNV

and btw i will look at my Vram ;) ..adn i have testet the Purge_Cell_Buffers mod but this mod is not compatible with awop .. got ctd on enter the civilian\living area in awop. i think ini change was a way better ;)
