djkillswitch
So im trying to understand mods, and i have a feeling there may not be a simple answer to this question but im going to ask it anyway. How well do different mods work together? i have seen multiple weapon packs that contain amazing looking swords. Can i download them all or do i have to pick one? Same with the environmental mods, can i Download the water, snow, daylight enhancers and have them work together? It is my understanding that these mods are made by random people and not the game developer so how well will they stack on top each other. For example i saw a mod that allows tigers to be added into skyrim. I assuming someone took the coding for the sabre cat mannerisms but changed the skin to look like a tiger. Does that mean if I took the mod for the add tigers and then added the mod that allowed me to have a pet sabre cat that i would then be able to have a pet tiger instead. (Tigers are my favourite animal and that would be awesome!) Thanks for the help
fms1
Usually but not always those mods will work together, unless they both try to change the same exact thing, in that case the one later in the Load List will win. Wrye Bash is a great utility for this, but can be very overwhelming especially at first. BOSS is also a very helpful utility, it sorts load order conflicts. With the sabre cat and tiger mods, If the sabre cat mod uses the standard sabre cat meshes and textures from the game, and doesn't have it's own meshes and textures in a separate folder, and if the tiger mod is just a retexture mod for the vanilla sabre cat, then you will most likely have the pet tiger thing like you wanted. stimresp
I'm a total dunce when it comes to this stuff, but I've been using the Nexus Mod Manager for months now and it's brilliant. I've only experience one mod conflict in that time, but NMM allowed me to find the problem and eliminate it quickly and without breaking a sweat. I use about 20 mods at any one time, some with overlapping features. Apart from installing Skyrim Script Extender, I haven't needed to understand what;s happening under-the-hood. Everything just works. The integration with this site is also fantastic. Very happy (and grateful) user here.

Staind716
A little advice for you. Only add one mod at a time and test it thoroughly before adding another. Makes it kind of a long process but if you start having issues with your game it is much easier to track down that way.
