Blank files with obmm?

OK, first off, sorry if this topic has been posted before, but I couldn't find it anywhere.

I use Oblivion Mod Manager, and for many mods (often quite well known and popular ones eg: kvatch aftermath, lowpoly grass) i will click 'create,' 'add archive,' and select the mod, but no files will come up on the screen. This happens with a fair few mods (10-25%) and is a real hassle. No error messages come up, and i'm using the lastest patch and version of obse (if that has anything to do with it). Can anybody help?

Oh yes, while i'm at it, when I try the above process with some mods (eg Operation Optimisation) it has an error message 'Unable to extract anything from archive.' The download was from TESnexus, it wasn't interrupted in any way and I repeated it, so I don't think it's a corrupt download. Anybody know what's wrong?

1- the OBMM is not all powerful and often makes mistakes like that. I only use it to convert my mods to OMODS. I use Wrye Bash together with FCOM helper/loader for the rest of my configuring, as they're more reliable

2-Operation Optimization isn't exactly a mod. You run it like an application and install it like you would any game or program. It then works that way. You don't need an esp for it or anything.
