So i have Obmm and have 3 or 4 mods on there and it works great! not all mods can be put in there it seems and so instead i just do the manual way and put the files and such in the Oblivion data folder. however, some mods have files that are named the same like multiple mods have a "meshes" file. When i put a new meshes file in when another meshes file exists from a different mod i am asked if i want to replace the original. Im not sure if i should replace them or if there is some way around this but any help would be great!

Usually when you DL a mod with a meshes folder and move it to the data folder, it doesn't ask to replace but to "merge" instead. always select yes when merging. It just adds the content of the meshes you just got to the ones you already have.

The only times I've encountered the "do you want to replace" is when I download a patch or an addon to a mod I already have. Example: I had Martigen's Monster Mod 3.0, I upgraded it to 3.5.3, Moving the files to the data folder asks me if I want to replace the existing mesh(and a ton of other things) with the new one. Of course I do! it's the reason I"m upgrading.

The files you have in your OBMM may be packaged into OMODS, but the textures, meshes, etc that are packaged into them also still exist in your data folder. An OMOD doesn't replace these files, instead it COPIES them.

As you get more and more Mods, the main problem is LOAD ORDER. For this, you need FCOM helper/loader. This is an ultra quick download (very small) and adjusts your load order in a matter of seconds.

Wrye Bash, another utility, is also a must, especially if you plan on using a metric ton of mods. It may seem intimidating, but is really quite simple to learn and use. This utility can do a ton of things. If you learn to use it, you'll only use the OBMM for making OMODS and that's it. Make sure you DL the 2 "pythons" that are required for Wrye Bash to run and install all 3.

Most mods, as you've realized, are in archives when you download them, like 7 zip and WinRar. To make an OMOD of them, you really don't have to unpackage them. Move the entire archive to your data folder. Just go to "add archive" instead of "add files". When you add an archive you don't have to "scan for data files" as they're already inside the archive. The Mod Manager also unpacks the archive neatly inside your data folder when it does this.

Check out my "FCOM Install & Tewak Guide" (just search: "Install Guide" in the TESNexus files area. It has sections on installing Wrye Bash, creating OMODs and using FCOMhelper, and a ton of other stuff.

There is a TON of info in my install guide so it might seem overwhelming but its designed with beginners in mind.

Happy Modding
