Bradlow
Originally, well look this is exactly what happened. I beat Fallout 3. Loved it. Free roamed a lot afterwards. Got New Vegas. Beat it way too quick and so I was very disappointed. So I decided to go back to Fallout 3 for a third play through. It just wasn't the same with New Vegas's Weapons. I've downloaded 5-10 programs including GECK and really did try to follow tutorials that I found vague and inaccurate as hell. So I'm just going to tell you guys what I'm thinking. I need someone pro to take my ideas in and see what they come up with, because I'm far from pro, and god knows I tried. My original thought was to simply add New Vegas weapons to Fallout 3. I went about learning how to potentially do this. Found GECK. Realized that I'm not a Graphic Designer quickly, so I played around and edited the original Sniper Rifles and made 3 Rifles. Anti-material Rifle, Dragunov, and PSG-1. even made the .50 cal and 7.62mm ammunition for them in Fallout 3, but they all looked identical. Just not satisfactory. After playing around with GECK for a couple days I thought well wow. I have everything in front of me to just, simply add all of New Vegas's content to Fallout 3. So I tried for a few hours and came up with no results. Not even a glitch or a crash or anything. Nothing. What I was trying to do is use Fallout 3 as a Master and New Vegas as a Plugin, and use the Fallout 3 Launcher to detect the data. Which seemed to work fine until I realized that it didn't work when I used the command "player.additem 'nv code' 1 100" Theoretically, I could see it even being possible to make a supergame with the two, and have a door in the ground that teleports you to the next world and back, or something like that (And the idea would be to be able to take whatever you're carrying into the next game, and have full save game support) I can imagine a spider being split in two, so that it is symmetrical, each side representing either Fallout 3 or New Vegas and the legs the Add-ons. But I just really do not know how to go about it. It's like one of those damned.... Rubix cubes... everything is right in front of me but I can't figure it out. ... I'm frustrated.... Help? Ideas? I also thought maybe making a giant file with just all the data from both games in one big file, but that seems less realistic to do, to me. Thanks. Ladez
Porting items from NV to FO3 is illegal, so as for getting NV weapons into FO3 you would have to learn how to do it yourself as it's not allowed on the Nexus. As for merging the games, there did exist a mod for New Vegas that allowed you to play both games at once, I never tried it though. I hear it's been taken down too for some reason, probably legal issues. :(
LXD9
If it's just weapons you want, I know you can find analogous weapons to the three you mentioned here Apocalypse Armory also if you want to modify weapons you can do that with this mod Weapon Mod Kits
Bradlow
Ohh darn :\. Well Bethesda really has to stop half assing it. They got their priorities a little... confused I think. and thanks for the mod suggestions. PS All I can say, is that I am sure good and glad I didn't pay for New Vegas. And I just borrowed it from a friend ;). I'm actually considering boycotting Bethesda, after being gagged like this. New Vegas isn't even a complete game. It's a ripoff. And Fallout 3 could have been a lot better. Though, I do believe Fallout 3 was the best between the two, minus weapons, by far. Thanks again. Ladez
Well, I think that's a little harsh, although I do understand. Fallout New Vegas was a great experience because of all the extra features. Obsidian added a lot of things that i feel really should have been in Fallout 3 to begin with. It also runs much much better on my machine than FO3. I can play NV for a full day with no problems, even with loads of mods installed. FO3 would have frozen 3-6 times in that timeframe on a clean install. Although I have to give it to you, FO3 is a big win on the story and atmosphere, where NV is a little meh. It's all good though, in a game like this I don't expect a rich story as long as long as there's a big world to free-roam in and mod the hell out of. ;) On another note, in Bethesda's defense, Skyrim is f***ing awesome. :P
TheStrictNein
I remember when that mod first appeared, the one that let you play FO3 in NV. I believe the author said it was possible due to NV being a later version of the F3 engine, but that meant it was not backwards compatible. Also, no way was it taken down for legitimate legal reasons. The mod didn't provide F3 or any of it's DLC, just the mod to link it into NV. You needed F3 and the DLC yourself.
