EmeraldDemond
Hey Everyone! I've since finished Oblivion, KotN, and the Shivering Isles, and I hunger for more! But first, I've been wanting to make my character look the part; I've wanted a green cape since I started, and unfortunately, Oblivion doesn't have any... I've been looking for some mods in order to get a really good green cape, and unfortunately all I could find were these: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=19240 They're not perfect, but I can't find any better... But the problem is that I can't get it to work! This is my first mod, so I'm not surprised... I don't know what I'm doing wrong; I'm pretty sure what I'm doing is right, according to the instructions given, but one thing comes to mind as to what could be the problem; it asks me to put the Meshes Folder in the Oblivion\Data\Meshes folder, but there is none! I've tried making my own, putting the folder in the Textures folder, even just leaving it in the data folder; nothing seems to work... In the game, all there is is the identification that there is an item, because of the name, but it has no icon, does not appear on my character when equipped, and when dropped appears as a large '!' in a yellow box... Can anyone help me please? And fast?! And if you have any other green cape mods you know of, could you tell me of them?
Triforce1
Okay, sure. Your first mod, you say? Well, may I recommend Oblivion Mod Manager, OBMM, by Timeslip? A very good mod interface; made my life sooo much easier in the beginning. If you can't figure it out, just ask, but it is pretty easy. The yellow boxes mean "missing mesh", and having a mesh were it isn't supposed to be is the reason. OBMM should fix this if you do it right. And as far as cloak mods go, try this one, or maybe this one instead. If you don't like the colors, look into retexturing them yourself. Not too tought, once you understand your program of choice. EmeraldDemond
I like the looks of the second cape mod you listed, and I've downloaded the mod manager, but it says I need to download a .NET Framework thing, so I'm doing that... I'll keep you posted on how it turns out...thanks for the help you've given so far! I've got the Manager working, but I can't seem to know how it works; I can see a list of the plugins and the cape mod, but I don't know how to go from there... The capes still have no icons, nor do they appear on my character...I think, in the meantime, I'll try the other cape mod you suggested... I probably need more help now... Ethre
Sounds like you don't have the mesh or the menu icons. Try downloading Capes and Cloaks and installing that. Make certain you copy all of the folders in the download. Then try equipping the cape you have (from the first mod you downloaded). Since it is based on the Capes and Cloaks mod, I have a suspicion it may use the same mesh and menu icon directories
EmeraldDemond
http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk216/Emerald_Demond14/ScreenShot194.jpg This is a screenshot of the mod when selected; it quite clearly shows the absense of an icon or the actual cape on the character... I'm still waiting for the Cloaks And Capes mod to download... I got a friend to help me over the net to try and make the OBMM work with the mod, but to no avail... What I find the most obviously thing wrong is the absence of a default Meshes folder in the Oblivion\Data folder; all I have (by default) are Music, Shaders, Texture and Video...is there supposed to be a default Meshes folder? Ethre
There isn't one there by default, but when you add a mod with custom meshes you will create one (for 99% of mods, some now use .bsa files like Oblivion itself does).
EmeraldDemond
Oh, stupid me; I've been following instructions that I first read and disregarded the rest...it would seem the first would be wrong... I've now got the idea of extracting the compressing files straight into the Data folder, and it works... Thanks for everyones time!
Guest
I have got to know. Is there any way (yes, even at the heavy risk) of modding an XBox 360? I seriously would spend the $200 just so I could use a system exclusively for modding Oblivion without ruining all my other game data. If anyone here has a (preferably safe and easy for a non-techie) way to mod a 360, please post.
