script or better method to connect a vanilla vendor to a specific space/chair

Recommended Posts

I'm building a goodneighbor overhaul and would like to make Rufus stay in a specific area and use a stool. My guess is that I'd add a keyword or script to make him connected to the specific stool.

I'm obviously not an expert with the CK but I'm now comfortable using it, and confident that I can follow the steps if someone could point me to the best method. I've been digging around in similiar npcs records in xedit, but wanted to ask here for some advice in the meantime.

For what it's worth, if I can get some guidance anyone will be conpensated with some credit on my mod page. :)

You need to edit his AI package. Set it either to 'Sit' and link the chair he should sit on or let him 'sandbox' in an area around him and disable 'wander'. No script needed. But you need to reset his AI when loading the game from a save that already contains his old AI.

Thanks. I ended up giving ownership of a stool and idle marker to the npc which is working as intended.

What i am looking at now is how to optimize my npc's behaviors. I've basically been experimenting with ai packages, but am still looking for the best combination of properties to make them utilize the area.

Well, you have to define what they should do. The AI has no 'Intelligence'. You have to tell the AI what it has to do.

You can define that it should only use owned furnitures/markers. Or everything. You also have to define the radius/area where the NPC should look for objects to interact with.

Yeah ive been successful in getting them to sandbox where i need to, i guess since im still a new I cant help but wonder if there are tricks that people have learned to make them to interact with the environment as efficiently as possible.

I managed to broaden the height of where they can wander, and to use the objects i wanted them too. I'm basically just experimenting to learn everything that i can make them do at this point.
