Oldrim, SSE, MO or Vortex

Hey guys,

Been a long time. I was busy making myself a routineer Triathlet, gearing up for Iron Man. Took me some time to integrate that new part of my life, without consuming all of my spare time.

However. I'm in the process of setting up another playthrough, which probably ends up in a big modfest, but I'm not up to date of todays standards. So I thought I'd just ask right away, if someone feels to help me out on this.

1. Why do I want to consider SSE over Oldrim, apart from 64 bit and "better graphics"? I see there are still a lot of mods missing despites SKSE presence for a considerable amount of time. That seems to be specially true in the sector of Mods I prefer: Gameplay.

2. I guess NMM is out of the tournament. What about MO and Vortex? They booth seem decent, which offers the question why the developers don't just team up, to relief me of the burden of choice... :D Is my way of handling manually with LOOT and Wrye Bash only, still an option?

3. STEP. I never used it, but this time I'd like to, but it turns out there's a whole bunch of outdated mods on the STEP list? Most prominent example might be Skyim HD, and Skyrim Reloaded(or whatever the mods name is on ModDB?). I figure I'm on the right track with version 2.10(2017? Nothing more up to date?), and this article. But Reddit seems to have its own "special" opinion...which it always does?

The problem for me is just, all the opinions confuse me more, than clearing things up. Isn't there something like a Nexus equivalent of STEP? I might be oldschool, but I consider official channels rather then a chit chatter platform.

I might specifically point out the question to Arthmoor, Gopher and the SKSE, as I trust them most... :D

Do you use SSE or Oldrim, and why?

Edit: Oh, and btw. where is Chesko and why is his Needs mod not finished...:)
