File password protected or not valid rar file

I have been having trouble with almost every mod i download every time I use my mod manager on files i have downloaded and i get a message up saying the file is password protected or not a valid rar file (as i use winrar for mods) I am new at using mods so any help would be appreciated as there are many mods i want to try

Try updating WinRAR. Password-protected archives are not allowed on the Nexus, so you won't find any here. If the files are indeed invalid, try another browser or network configuration.
