Faction associating and greetings.

Since I've been dipping my toe into the CS (or should that be finger, heh) with NPC editing for the mods I like I came across a couple of things I've not been able to figure out so far.

How do we associate a "new" NPC with a particular faction? The only references I've found so far for this list command lines. Is there a way we enter command lines in the CS?

Also, with the new NPC I created, I couldn't figure out how to choose a greeting for him so he still has the "I have no greeting" pop-up. heh. It didn't particularly matter for this feller since he was to become my umm, docile food supply (thank you cattle mod!) but I would like to know how anyway. :)

Cheers.

Dialogue I'm personally trying to figure out myself still, it's a bit confusing...

As for faction association when you're in the CS click on Character and then Faction...

It'll bring up a popup menu of all the factions in the game (visible to the player, and non-visible) and from there you can create your own faction.

then, to associate an NPC to a faction you open up their menu by double click them, click on Edit Base, then click on the Faction tab. Finally, just find the name of the faction you want and drag it into NPC faction list (just like adding invetory items) and voila, they're now part of that faction.

As for dialogue, try this link

Greetings are normally determined by race. If this is a custom race, there probably aren't any greetings setup. Adding the NPC to a faction can occasionally cause some different greetings, but again, if this is a custom race, none of them will work. Instead you will need to create a new greeting dialogue (attached to a quest) within the GREETING topic. You will then need to link the dialogue to the NPC by changing the conditions for the dialogue to match some specific component of that NPC. GetisID = <Refname of NPC> tend to be the best option for a single NPC, other conditions should be used if you want that greeting to apply to a whole faction, race, or whatever. Just be aware, the priority of the quest the dialogue is attached to and the conditions on that dialogue determine who and when that dialogue will be spoken. If you have problems, you should considder increasing the priority (nothing above 60) or changing conditions.
