Ten commands of the ten divine?

Hi there,

Well I though a bit about something: Don't you think it comes a bit ridiculous that when you get to level let say 25+ you own houses everywhere in Cyrodiil? That you are blessed and blessed again by the nine divine? That if you got some mod you may be either champion of mehrune dagon or Knight of the divine, a demon coming from the abysses and such? And don't forget way of doing magic unknown from the mage guild...which you may own if you have finished their quest line.

In a way I found that as well potentially interesting, after playing the wonderful mods of Giskard, Simiyaz, the lost spires, and servant of the dawn (can't remember the author's nick name). I got this remnant picture in my head of

my character who inherited power of lost civilisations sitting in his throne room while looking over Cyrodiil and suddenly deciding to take up incarnation into a townfolks while worshippers were offering gift at his shrine.

That of course is before he went to meet up with Mara or Sheogorath and decide about what type of game to play with the complete continent as his gameboard....starting suddenly to wonder if the gods are that almighty?

So you get my point: the character is a living god. What next?

What I would suggest is a mod gathering this not to render him/her even more powerful but to explore much more the gods of cyrodiill: Interaction with them, possibly war?

First point: The power you get. How should you measure ones path to ascension?

The greater power seemed to me a good start: they are in general powerful (you trigger them once a day after all...).

The other Value would be the fame/infamy rating to determine your influence in the world of oblivion, wether your are a bad guy or a good guy.

The basic idea of the mod itself would be: after a certain value is reached the quest for ascension is started: the player need to do something to ascend, a quest line to retrieve what Tiber septim did ?

Don't get me wrong : this mod would not be designed for uberpowering purpose but more lore and other dimension exploration.

Few ideas would be to coop with the other gods try to make alliance through services and treason of course :P

That perhaps would help to show what the notion of god in Cyrodiil is to the player...making more differences between the daedra and the Nine

It's just all ideas so far, hope it's gonna ring the bell of someone :P

PS I hope I made it all clear as firstly english is not my native language and there are a lot of idea in there ^^

See ya,

Tom

Woohoo this is just like what I suggested :D. The Idea of being a god is really cool and yeah you could become one of the nine divines or even become like the king of all the gods :O. So like your the almighty and powerful ruling god in the skies :D.

Well, I don't much like the becoming a 'GOD' persay, but perhaps more along the lines of a demi-god of sorts. Sure, Tiber Septim ascended to become Akatosh, so then you had the Eight and One, then later people just started worshipping the Nine, instead of the Eight, and giving HONOR to the One.

Anyway, perhaps you just become more inline the Nine or Daedra, because to me something like becoming an actual god would be a HUGE lore change (not saying it's bad, but not saying it's an awesome idea right off the bat)

Perhaps another approach would be that you (General term here for the player) learn that you're actually an avatar for the Nine/Daedra (depending on fame/infamy) and like I said you become more 'in touch' with the Nine/Daedra (now referred to as ND) and get granted special greater powers throughout becoming more in touch with the ND.

yeah kind of make sense to me, however (and in this I just talk about myself, Lip may have a different point of view) I saw more the ascension as an excuse to explore with closer eyes the part about the gods, as your character become a god.

And besides, becoming a god doesn't necessary involve huge recognition by the "common folks" of Tamriel, to be known you need worshippers and people talking about you(anynone knows little gods from Terry Pratchett?^^ ). I have noticed that most of the time the gods do not interfere directly with the mortal unless catastrophe like ***SPOILER*** Mehrune Dagon coming himself into the imperial city :)

I am more interested in the story than the game part. If it is just becoming an avatar, well...what should I say except that it already exists through the KoTN, servant of the dawn and the like?

About the lore I will only say that after ***Spoiler*** the end of the main quest Martin says in the last video that it is up to the hero to write the story of Tamriel now that the septim are gone. And as far as I know, so far nothing as been written by Beth. That would be a good alternate end for the character don't you think? ;)

My basic idea is something completely like the "God of War" games you just do an incredible quest for the gods (The Nine Divines in this case) and like after you do that quest your greatest reward is ascending into the heavens and basically becoming a god.

For example: I had in mind: "There is a new Daedric God who is the Successor of Mehrunes Dagon and is continuing his predecessors work by destroying Tamriel and all. You are the Divines greatest champion and they can only rely on you to kill the Daedric God. They grant you godly powers and like you eventually confront him somewhere like Bruma. (Or Imperial City. Might be copying the original storyline of Oblivion) and you face him one on one and eventually when you defeat him a light shines down on you from the sky and you are ascended up unexpectadly up to the heavens and you are giving a Palace and all...."

Just vaguely what I had in mind.
